The supplies, services and purchasing group provides relationship management and oversight of external suppliers. The position coordinates activities involved with the procurement of services that support SCI operations. Buyers collaborate with other internal departments and field locations for the planning and sourcing of products and services to effectively and efficiently execute SCI’s day to day operations. This position is responsible for delivering relevant analysis and reports so that appropriate decisions can be made to offer the best value to customers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develops and manages relationships with national strategic indirect or direct suppliers
  • Negotiates prices and terms with suppliers for the purchase of supplies and services
  • Leverages enterprise spending to obtain best pricing and practices
  • Recommends sourcing options and new suppliers based on quality, service and competitive pricing
  • Identifies and establishes cost savings opportunities across supply commodities
  • Delivers recommendations to customers on supply related needs
  • Reviews service related purchase requests: coordinates with customers to verify specifications and requirements to obtain bids and quotes; selects and issues Purchase Order for approved requests
  • Expedites orders and field inquiries on status and tracking
  • Assists with resolving invoice payment issues and discrepancies
  • Provides monthly reporting on key suppliers and initiatives
  • Aids in collecting data for internal and external audits as required

MINIMUM Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related discipline

Experience

  • One (1) years professional experience in procuring supplies or services
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel and Word

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Understanding of key financial and market principals
  • Ability to communicate with associates at all levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment

  • Work indoors during all seasons and weather conditions
  • Limited amount of local and/or multiple location traveling required
  • Standard business dress required when in contact with families

  • Sitting continuously for many hours per day, up to 6 hours per day
  • Climbing stairs to access buildings as needed

Physical Demands

  • Physical effort requiring manual dexterity is required, includes paperwork, calculators, computers and phone usage
