The Role
The Buyer II position is responsible for sourcing and purchasing of indirect materials and some minor direct materials and services to support organizational needs.
This role is located in Athens, Ohio.
The Responsibilities

Sources indirect materials and services to support internal customer needs

Prepares purchase orders and places orders in an accurate and timely manner

Monitors purchase order delivery and escalates when necessary.

Manages central stores materials Do they do this in Athens?

Carries out duties in compliance with GMPs, ISO standards and established business policies

Ensures proper approvals on purchase orders have been obtained.

Maintains purchase order accuracy and record keeping

Works Independently to perform other related duties as assigned

Participates in process improvement activities

Establish blanket purchase orders.
The Individual
Required:
-
High School diploma or GED
-
3 to 5 years’ experience in a purchasing environment or related field
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Basic e-mail, word processing and spreadsheet knowledge.
Preferred:
-
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
-
Manufacturing experience
-
Certifications: APICS CPIM, CFPIM, or CIRM; or NAPM CPM

Experience with MRP system

Problem-solving skills
The Key Working Relationships
Internal Partners:
Supports internal customers by processing purchase orders and communicating purchase order information to requisitioners and managers. Obtains management approvals for purchase orders. Communicates needs to internal suppliers.
External Partners:
Work with outside suppliers to purchase “off the shelf” production items.
The Work Environment
General office and manufacturing environment.
The Physical Demands:
No strenuous physical activity. Typically, 25% of time in meetings or meetings individually with people, 75% of the time at the desk on computer/doing paperwork/ on phone. Walking, standing, and sitting for long periods of time are routine to accomplish tasks in this role. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Position may be required to use Personal Protective Equipment as posted.
