The Role
The Third Party Response Analytics team at Cash App plays a critical role in building high-trust relationships between Cash and the external parties we work with, such as partners, regulators, and others. Our north star is empowering relationship owners within Cash to self-service the vast majority of these requests quickly and accurately through the automated tooling and reporting developed by our team. We are seeking an experienced Business Intelligence Engineering Manager to help us continue growing the impact of this high-performing team and focus specifically on a team of 5-6 BIEs who support our portfolio of lending products.
Your team will be highly visible, partnering directly with a variety of stakeholders at all levels across Cash App to identify and implement opportunities for automating the data supply chain and enhancing reliability. You will play a pivotal role in managing cross-functional relationships, guiding the design and development of innovative solutions, and ensuring the seamless integration of data processes. As a leader, you will be accountable for growing and developing your team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for innovation and automation, coupled with a proven ability to build, engage, and retain a team of highly talented engineers. You should have prior experience leading a team of Business Intelligence Engineers and be comfortable diving into projects as a hands-on contributor when necessary. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as you will regularly interact with stakeholders and senior management, ensuring alignment and driving impactful outcomes.
You Will

  • Lead: A team of 6 BIEs who support our lending portfolio of products
  • Drive Vision: Proactively drive the vision for Business Intelligence Engineering across a product or business vertical, and define and execute a strategic plan to achieve that vision.
  • Develop Self-Service Tools: Create and maintain a collection of high-leverage "Supported Self-Service" dashboards and visualizations for core stakeholders, enabling efficient data access and insights.
  • Ensure Operational Excellence: Define and implement operational excellence processes for Business Intelligence Engineering, including project management and system reliability.
  • Build a High-Impact Team: Recruit, develop, and scale a high-impact Business Intelligence Engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with multiple internal teams, including Product, Legal, Compliance, Data Science, and Customer Operations, to identify and implement data-driven solutions.
  • Manage Projects: Oversee individual projects by coordinating directly with the company's internal data teams, ensuring timely and effective delivery.
  • Develop and Empower: Focused development of the broader team's skills and capabilities, enabling them to scale effectively and sustainably.


You Have

  • Advanced SQL: schema and ETL design, query optimization, data pipeline maintenance, data visualization platforms (e.g. Tableau, Looker, Mode)
  • Familiarity with scripting/programming for data mining, modeling, and ETL development (Python preferred)
  • Ability to proactively define the long-term vision and strategy that will offer the correct data to support our external data requests, unlocking key data visibility and insights
  • Bachelor's degree required, with major in Computer Science, Information Technology, Analytics, or other technical field strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of data engineering experience in product/support analytics and business operations
  • 2+ years experience in people management

The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
