Castleton Commodities International is hiring a Business Intelligence Developer to join our Front Office Information Technology team. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated a passion for solving business problems by creating visualizations in Microsoft Power BI. In addition, the candidate will have experience working directly with databases, including writing SQL and data modeling. This position is a hands-on role responsible for developing, supporting, and maintaining visualizations and the supporting methodologies to deploy scalable pipelines with Power BI. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a strong technical background to interface directly with technical colleagues and CCI’s commercial trading teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Work directly with commercial trading teams to create and optimize visualization solutions.
  • Develop scalable and maintainable BI dashboards and reports, which will be adopted throughout the organization, enabling users to make informed decisions.
  • Leverage best practices to implement deployment pipelines and source control for Power BI solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in management information systems or related field of study.
  • 5+ years of hands-on development in Power BI (excellent knowledge of DAX and Power Query).
  • Strong database/SQL skills - Writing complex SQL queries for data analysis.
  • Strong data modeling skills.
  • Strong analytical skills are required, including a thorough understanding of interpreting customer business needs and translating them into report/dashboard visualization requirements.
  • Experience with Agile practices. 
  • Working knowledge of source control.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with a wide range of users, from very technical to non-technical.
  • Results-oriented team player who can handle rapidly changing projects and priorities while maintaining a strong professional presence.
  • Strong analytical skillset with demonstrated attention to detail.
  • The candidate should be passionate about technology and stay current with trends.
  • Fast learner with the ability to adapt quickly and work in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with cloud-based data warehouses such as Snowflake.
  • Data warehousing concepts (e.g., Facts, Dimensions, Star and Snowflake design, etc.) and SQL query performance tuning.
  • Experience working with Power Automate.
  • Experience working with Tableau or other related BI tools.
