Job Title: Business Development, Wealth Management - Switzerland

Business Title: Senior Director/Director

Location: Zurich Office

The Role

BARINGS has further ambitious plans for the expansion of the Swiss wealth management market and, to this end, is seeking to recruit a Director or a Senior Director who will report to another Senior Director to further develop and drive the business activities across BARINGS' liquid and illiquid capabilities.

The Salesperson will have the following remit:

  • Further development of the Swiss market for BARINGS, across our liquid and illiquid asset classes focusing on developing the Zurich-headquartered wealth management clients. The person will take ownership for their client segment, predominantly the tier one and tier two accounts and prospects. This will include expanding and deepening relationships with existing clients as well as developing new business opportunities.
  • The individual will work as part of the Swiss sales team.
  • They will support the firm in its effort to raise assets from new and existing clients, as well as managing the relationship with those clients in all aspects. Further, this individual will also work with Zurich-based private banks and family offices, international organisations, and digital distributors, both on liquid strategies as well as our alternatives into wealth effort, which is a key goal in the business development strategy.
  • The role will promote the company as a strong investment brand through dedicated marketing initiatives in the region.
  • Will own and meet/exceed annual sales targets within assigned territory and accounts.
  • Executing against a strategic plan for Switzerland to achieve sales targets and expand the client base in addition to actively contribute to the wider European business plan.
  • Building and maintaining strong, long-lasting customer relationships.
     

Core Knowledge

  • Key knowledge of the Swiss wealth market.
  • A thorough understanding of large wealth management organisations and the product decision making processes.
  • Good knowledge of key competition and the competitive environment in Switzerland.
  • Good knowledge of alternatives and required product structures for distribution into the wealth channel.
  • A good working knowledge of the legal and regulatory provisions associated with the role.

Core Skills

  • Proven sales experience, meeting, or exceeding sales targets within assigned client franchises.
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close.
  • Excellent internal and external communications skills.
  • Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build and improve personal relationships with a diverse range of people/personalities.
  • Languages – Swiss German and English are essential.

Entrepreneurial Spirit

  • Results-oriented and focused on accomplishments rather than activity.
  • The ability to establish new client relationships as well as the relationship management skills to work productively with existing clients.
  • Act as a credible representative of BARINGS at the highest levels of client interaction as well as be able to articulate complex investment processes to a diverse client audience.

Collaborative style and Intercultural Awareness

  • A strong team player and consensus builder who balances high levels of individual drive and motivation with a desire to work as part of a broader international team and business, sharing information, best practices and support. Close collaboration with client portfolio managers, client services managers and other teams.
  • Able to grasp and work across the nuances of the Swiss wealth market.
  • Readiness to travel within Europe to build relationships within BARINGS, availability for meetings with colleagues and external events.
  • Take part in the projects across borders and help drive topics and bring new perspectives to the discussion.
