We are seeking a Director of Business Development who will work closely with the senior management team of Thrive to lead our business development process through sourcing, evaluating, conducting diligence, and closing a high volume of acquisitions and partnerships. The candidate will join a highly collaborative and motivated team in a dynamic environment with substantial opportunity to create value and contribute to the company’s growth mandate. Qualified candidates should demonstrate a strong desire and passion for M&A and business development, working with small business owners, and a great goal-oriented attitude.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the process of identification, evaluation, and execution of acquisition opportunities within a dedicated geographic region
  • Owns the responsibility of building and maintaining a relationship with small business owners
  • Negotiate and explain deal terms while maintaining a positive working relationship with the business owner
  • Partner with senior leadership and TDP to set and execute strategy
  • Collaborate with CDO to manage efforts to obtain new business and retain existing relationships
  • Develop and maintain relationships with contacts, customers, and brokers to maintain and expand business
  • Lead due diligence (including managing third-parties), valuation analysis, and proposal development for potential acquisition candidate
  • Help build post transaction value creation plans with owners to ensure a successful investment post close
  • Work with senior management and third-party vendors to efficiently close transactions
  • Wear multiple hats if needed and be a team player in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment

Qualifications:

  • 4-7 years of M&A experience (investment banking, private equity, consulting, corporate development or direct lending)
  • Prior experience communicating directly with small business owners
  • Prior experience at a multi-site acquisition driven organization
  • Team player and self-starter
  • Advanced in Microsoft Office products
  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degrees a plus
  • Willingness to travel ~50% of time (including to corporate office in Chicago)

Compensation

Highly competitive compensation consisting of base salary, performance bonus, and equity ownership.
