JOB SUMMARY
The Defense Industrial Base Institute seeks a dynamic Budget Analyst to support a new DoD funded project as well as its overall institute mission in the metro-Boston area, nationally, and internationally. This role requires a person with an entrepreneurial spirit and success in financial and grant management as well as great collaboration and interpersonal skills.
The position reports to the Director of Finance and Administration at the Defense Industrial Base Institute (DIBI). The incumbent is responsible for the management of a portfolio of DIBI expense budgets, including operational, grant, and restricted accounts. The incumbent is responsible for working closely with NU RES, and Provost Office department in forecasting expense budgets, identifying and resolving budget related issues, maintaining expense controls, reviewing monthly expenditures and projections with the Executive Director and Director for Finance and Administration, ensuring appropriateness and accuracy of expenditures, and conform with Institute/University policy and procedures. The position will support the NU RES point of contact on submissions of transfers, allocations, etc that may be needed under the research award as well as support of the rapid study team awards that the institute will manage as part of its core activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Economics.

Minimum of 3 years of financial/accounting experience, preferably in higher education or non-profit environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Workday and Banner Finance preferred.

Strong analytical skills and extreme attention to detail; accuracy of finished work is critical.

Ability to communicate effectively with personnel at all levels of the University

Must be able to take initiative and follow through on tasks independently.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Collaborate on the management of expense budgets by reviewing expenditures to ensure accuracy, compliance with procedures, and adherence to regulations. Work with Director of Finance and Administration and Executive Director to confirm that spending aligns with plans, transactions are accurate and properly approved, and budgets remain with their allocated limits. (25%)
Contribute to monthly projections for expenses, revenue, and restricted accounts. Assist Directors at the institute in managing their budgets, including both discretionary and salary components. This involves creating clear and comprehensive plans and directions tailored for individuals without a financial background, as well as addressing salary budgets, and open salary lines. (25%)
Oversee the Institute's third-party billing accounts to ensure accounts are accurate and payments are processed correctly. This includes monitoring invoices and tracking received payments. (25%)
Assist as necessary in the purchasing and requisition process (10%)
Assist as necessary with various ad hoc projects within the Institute. Such projects can include one-time analyses, specialized projects, rapid Study etc. (15%)

Expected Hiring Range:
$59,425.00 - $83,935.00
