WCIA 3 the CBS affiliate in Champaign, Illinois, (Market #90) is actively recruiting for a Broadcast/Digital Director. This position is full time Monday through Friday but will also require the flexibility to be on call as needed by the News Department. The Director coordinates the efforts of all technical operators during newscasts and other live and recorded productions.
- Direct and/or technically direct newscasts and other productions
- Ensures quality standards are met
- Works with the news Producers to deliver a clean visually impactful newscast
- Provides training and direction to the production staff/shift team
- Assist in repair and upkeep of studio and production sets and properties
- May also perform the following duties:
- Audio operations for daily newscasts
- Xpression graphics for daily newscasts
- Editing with Adobe Premiere editing software
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements & Skills:
- High school diploma preferred BA or BS degree in Communications or Mass Communications with an emphasis on Television Production or related experience
- Fluency in English
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Creative decision-making skills
- Minimum two years’ experience in News operations and Production (market size considered)
- Proficiency with computers and broadcast control equipment
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and be able to multi-task
- The pay range for this position is: $32,000- $34,000.00

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
The Broadcast/Digital Director must be able to sit, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. In addition, the Broadcast Director must be able to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Repetitive movements are required. Must be able to lift 50 pounds over their head. Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.
