Your new role
As a Broadcast Journalist at Global you will have a fantastic voice and great writing skills. You will be part of a team producing news bulletins for our Heart, Capital and Smooth Radio brands.
The successful candidate should have plenty of broadcast journalism experience in a radio newsroom, including audio editing, writing for broadcast and conducting interviews.
You'll have a great passion for news, and you will know that it is a 24/7 industry. You should be willing to take ownership for being across the news agenda in Wales, have a good understanding on the biggest matters nationally and able to demonstrate a proven track record in responding to breaking news stories.
Flexibility and versatility in the role are vital.
Key Responsibilities

Qualified: The person in this position will have a relevant journalism qualification including an understanding of media law and Ofcom's broadcast regulations and guidelines.

Understanding: Experience in a radio newsroom working on a bulletin or production desk.

Passion: You’ll have a fantastic voice, write creatively and be able to deliver high quality, relevant, timely and accurate news bulletins

Valued: You’ll help set the on-air and digital agenda daily.

What You’ll Need
The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of the following:

Quality: Delivering standout, OFCOM-compliant content which routinely meets and exceeds Global standards.

Ideas: Pitching and delivering exclusive, original content, either on your own or in collaboration with other team members.

Clarity: Understanding the importance of tailored content across our brand portfolio and be capable of taking ownership for all editorial decisions with those diverse audiences in mind.

Dynamism: Responding to changing situations and problem-solving under pressure, to ensure our output is always of the highest standard in all circumstances.

Flexibility: News happens 24/7 - this isn’t a ‘normal’ office job and flexibility is key. This role will include working across weekends and potentially overnights
