Job Summary:

Agronomix Software, a leading software development company specializing in plant breeding and agronomy, is seeking a full-time, permanent Breeding Software Professional.
You will join a team of professionals based in Winnipeg, MB, Canada, supporting and developing our software used in over forty countries worldwide by plant breeders and agronomists at seed companies, universities, and government research centers. This role will focus on our all-new software application, GENOVIX. 

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

As part of the support team, you will maintain and develop statistical solutions and interact with plant breeders worldwide running breeding and variety testing programs for many different crops and breeding systems. you will provide technical assistance to plant breeders globally who use our software. You will collaborate with the company's software development team to enhance the GENOVIX software application for plant breeding and variety testing. Additionally, you assist in software implementation, quality control and testing for all releases, and provide online or in-person training for our clients, which may involve international travel. 

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • MSc in Statistics and bachelor’s in computer science or similar combination. 

  • Proficiency with R coding development, including R statistical and data visualization packages, is advantageous. 

  • Proficiency in programming languages like Java, Python, or C++, C#, VB.NET, is an asset. 

  • Experience in experimental design and statistics, with some field research experience.  

  • Knowledge of plant breeding and experience in a conventional plant breeding program. 

  • Teaching or training experience is a plus. 

  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English. 

  • Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively in a team environment. 

  • Preferably you can write, modify, integrate, and test coding work for software applications. 

  • Strong relational, interpersonal, and organizational skills. 

  • Legal permission to work in Canada is required.
