YOUR MISSION

The Bioprocess Specialist (BPS) is responsible for ensuring the success of scale-X bioreactors customers. This is a key role that involves planning proof-of concept runs, training and guiding customers on the operation of Univercells Technologies products. The BPS provides technical expertise to ensure the value proposition of our technology in customer applications working close to the sales managers. BPS takes a customer-focused approach to support and implement solutions during the drug development journey, from small scales to commercial scales in GMP environments.

In addition, BPS provides supports on product development relaying on voice of customers and sharing their expertise on scale-X applications. Besides customer travels, BPS is also expected to attend and potentially present in conferences and webinars.

Based in EU (preferably Belgium, France, Spain, Germany or Netherland), closed to an international airport. You will be reporting to the Global Bioprocess Services Manager.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide application and product training and/or demo (internal & external).

  • Build ad hoc experimental plans and bioprocess design for each specific customer’s application.
  • Be in charge of bioprocess transfers from/to customer, optimizing process on scale-X and troubleshooting operations and technical issues.
  • Manage implementation and deployment projects in close cooperation with all stakeholders.
  • Perform SAT (Site Acceptance Test) of small-scale non-GMP equipment.
  • Train customers on installation and operation of equipment and perform demonstrations and trials.
  • Advise customer on bioprocess optimization & technology transfer/scale-up.
  • Check & coordinate the required equipment and raw materials.

Sales & Product Management support

  • Write and update user guides and the product documentation package (IQ/OQ protocol files, installation guides, startup checklists, product specifications, URS, etc.); as well as application procedures.
  • Provide pre-sales support to the commercial team including technical input for the creation of quotations and experimental protocols.
  • Provide voice of customer & application feedback to Product Development teams & technical support/advise to the Sales team.
  • Be responsible for providing the mechanical installation of small-scale equipment at customer site as well as connecting the unit to the utilities.

Technical Support

  • Actively participate in troubleshooting and solution finding (test, configuration, etc.) for potential issues experienced by customers.
  • Provide after-sales support services on process development in scale-X systems and scaling process up or down.
  • Maintain documentation and reporting on support actions.
  • Equipment Deployment of small-scale equipment.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Master or Ph.D. – in a Bioengineering or related discipline - Bachelor in life sciences (biology, biotechnology) or bioprocess engineering with strong experience.

  • 3 to 8 years’ experience as a Tech. Transfer or Application Specialist within a BioProcess equipment provider.
  • Excellent understanding of bioprocesses: demonstrated experience in USP process is a must, especially on mammalian cells production, experiences in fixed bed and DSP are a plus.
  • Creative ability to explain and present complex technical concepts in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Experience in Project Management appreciated.
  • Interpersonal/communication skills and the ability to achieve excellent customer intimacy.
  • Strong commercial awareness. As the face of Univercells Technologies in front of customers, you instill trust.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and willingness to high travelling demand (worldwide – EU, USA, Africa and South America), at least 50%, however periods with higher demand could increase the need of travelling.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish, fluency in French is a plus, any other language is considered an asset.
