About the Team
We are in search for a skilled and dynamic Bid Manager to join our team in Hengelo. As a Bid Manager you will play an essential role in managing the end-to-end bid process. You will work closely with cross-functional teams in creating winning bids ensuring smooth handover to the project manager.
The Bid Management team currently consists of 35 Bid Managers, Proposal Managers, Financial Engineering Specialist and Bid Support employees. The department is responsible for managing 250 complex bids on average per year.
About your future job
As a Bid Manager you will have the responsibility to:
Create winning bids and contribute to our commercial success by preparing customer proposals in cooperation with the Sales Manager and Proposal Manager, support negotiations with the Customer together with the Sales Manager and deliver customer proposals based on - and contribute in the development of - the win themes, hot buttons, value propositions and positive discriminators Prepare offers based on internal commitments validated by all departments. Ensure smooth transition to the Project Manager of the initial project baseline, and contribute to organising the project launches Manage bids according to our internal Shipley-method based Manage Bid process, coordinate internal/external teams and safeguard timelines of bids Lead bid activities throughout bid lifecycles by:
- Defining initial project baselines based on viable solutions and project structures regarding customer requirements and the company’s strategy/policy
- Launching solution oriented phases, organizing and planning future projects
- Defining major milestones for delivery and acceptance based on the defined initial project baseline, consolidating costs and validating project baselines for bids
- Creating and validating bids based on stakeholders’ commitments by managing risks and opportunities of future projects
Secure consistency of customer proposals with bid baselines, customer requirements, compliancy statements, assumptions, costs, risks and opportunities Present and obtain approvals in internal peer reviews Deliver agreed and authorized cost estimations including managed risks & opportunities and financial costs Contribute to closing bids (archiving documents, closing expenditure authorizations) by capitalizing and sharing on enterprise experience (lessons learnt).
Why you'd be a good match
As a Bid Manager you have:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with working in an international environment and affinity with complex high-tech products
- Experience with working on bid & proposal management of complex proposals
- Strong management skills and experience in high-tech industry or similar
- The ability to overlook complex situations and to manage multi-task environments
- A “can-do” mentality: entrepreneurial, flexible and open-minded
- Having an APMP certification is a big plus.
Next to these requirements, you are:
- A team player with a strong dedication to achieve common team goals.
- An enthusiastic and persistent personality with good communication skills
- Strong in motivating and structuring stakeholders of all levels
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
