Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world’s leading global law firms with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking to hire an Awards & Recognitions Specialist, who will be part of the larger Public Relations team. The Awards & Recognitions Specialist is primarily responsible for working closely with the Senior Manager and department leadership to identify awards opportunities; gather information from lawyers and professional staff through interviews and other research techniques; and apply it to write compelling award nominations that highlight Morgan Lewis’s lawyers, practice area accomplishments and firmwide achievements, across a spectrum of legal disciplines and industry sectors.

As a member of the team, and working collaboratively with our PR professionals, you will help advance the firm’s participation in award nominations in order to increase visibility and elevate the successes of the firm and of our lawyers by positioning Morgan Lewis as a destination firm for clients, lawyers, and staff. Leveraging your experience and advanced skillset in research, reporting, and writing, you will work with all levels of the firm across global jurisdictions, practice areas, industry teams, and departments, as well as with external organizations involved in legal awards and rankings.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supports the firm’s participation in submitting award nominations and legal data surveys by identifying opportunities; assisting with the strategy, researching, and drafting of compelling nominations; and editing submissions under the direction of department leadership and in partnership with colleagues in the Marketing & Communications and Business Development departments.

  • Collaborate with the firm’s public relations professionals to enhance the firm’s profile.

  • Collaborates on persuasive content for award submissions.

  • Assists with overall project management surrounding the annual cycle of legal awards process both in the United States and internationally.

  • Interfaces with editors in connection with award opportunities.

  • Maintains, manages, and reports on the survey and awards deadline calendar and communicates results to the appropriate parties.

Requirements/ Education and experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum 5 years of relevant writing experience in a professional setting, preferably in a legal or journalism environment (writing samples are a plus).

  • Excellent research, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Strong planning and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently, as well as manage projects and assignments to effectively prioritize and balance competing demands.

  • Respect for and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with all levels of personnel internally and externally with editors conducting awards contests and experience navigating a highly matrixed work environment working across multiples business units and teams.

  • Ability to act with a high degree of integrity and maintain confidentiality and superior reasoning skills and sound business judgment.

For positions in New York, NY, the salary range for this job posting is: $78,500.00 - $125,600.00.

The base salary or hourly wage range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors.  The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances.  Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.  If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position" and the firm reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, firm or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
