JOB DESCRIPTION:
Job Summary
Officer position responsible for providing overall risk control excellence through ownership of the commercial auto line of business. Ensures effective management and implementation of strategic objectives for the global auto portfolio in accordance with the company's strategic plans. Works with Underwriting, Claims, Actuarial, and other business units to analyze trends to promote profitable growth.
The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of auto line risk control or transportation experience and will possess a deep expertise in auto-related industry trends. Individuals should have strong risk control knowledge in casualty lines and the ability to assess exposures to loss, implement telematics and other technology-based auto solutions, and provide service to clients.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
1. Analyzes the auto book of business to identify root causes, trends and emerging issues and develops strategies and solutions for Risk Control to positively impact business results.
2. Consults with actuarial and data analytics teams to leverage auto-based data insights in risk assessment and consultative service initiatives.
3. Collaborates with Risk Control, Underwriting, and Claims leadership to provide support for risk evaluation and assessment on the most complex and sophisticated risks and to retain key accounts.
4. Establishes and implements client service strategy and develops resources for the auto book in coordination with the RC Client Services Leader.
5. Develops and maintains business relationships with key internal and external business partners.
6. Determines Risk Control field knowledge/skill levels and collaborates with Risk Control leadership to develop training strategy and delivery. Mentors experienced Risk Control staff and directs Risk Control quality improvement needs for the auto line of business.
7. Takes lead responsibility for establishing guidelines in area of expertise. Authors technical papers and external resources.
8. Works with Risk Control and Underwriting leadership to create and improve workflows, risk assessment methodologies, and business practices related to auto exposures.
9. Stays current on auto issues, regulations, activity, and trends. Evaluates global industry groups that support the auto line of business.
10. Increases marketplace visibility as the CNA representative in auto and safety industry groups.
May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
1. Excellent technical and current commercial auto line of business expertise.
2. Advanced understanding of risk assessment methodologies, the commercial auto insurance market, auto policies and endorsements, and regulated vehicle operations.
3. Experience developing and providing high-level auto consulting services
4. Excellent communication, negotiation, marketing and presentation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners.
5. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects.
6. Ability to deal with ambiguous situations and issues. Creativity in resolving unique and challenging business problems.
7. Ability to achieve results by taking a proactive long-term view of business goals and objectives.
8. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
9. Ability and willingness to travel 20% of the time for field training and visits to large/complex accounts. Some international travel may be required.
Education & Experience
1. Master's degree or equivalent experience. One or more professional designations preferred.
2. Typically a minimum of fifteen years risk control experience and/or fleet safety consultation and five or more years demonstrating advanced skills in area of expertise.
