Why This Role Is Valuable
The Litigation Management team oversees, supports, and prepares regular reports regarding insured and uninsured claims and litigation by and against portfolio companies and other real estate partners. The AVP, Litigation Counsel role will provide day-to-day support to members of the Litigation Management team, the Legal Department, outside counsel, and portfolio company stakeholders. The AVP, Litigation Counsel is expected to forge a close collaborative partnership throughout Revantage, Blackstone, and portfolio companies, as well as with various external stakeholder groups.
This position is based out of Revantage's office in Dallas, TX.
How You Add Value

  • Select, retain, and supervise outside counsel, including coordinating with law firms on onboarding and managing budgets for newly arising and legacy tail liability claims impacting Blackstone portfolio companies.
  • Develop and oversee implementation of litigation strategies and resolution plans to achieve optimal, timely, and cost-effective outcomes for newly arising and legacy tail liability claims impacting Blackstone portfolio companies.
  • Serve as strategic legal partner to stakeholder clients, providing advice and counsel on business practices, risk avoidance/mitigation, and legal compliance; provide timely reports on substantive developments in legal matters.
  • Identify, collaborate, and coordinate with key stakeholders (within legal and in the business; internal and external) in resolving disputes or claims before litigation is filed.
  • Lead and manage issues that may pose a potential risk to the company, including responding to subpoenas, and assisting/guiding internal/external investigations or inquiries.
  • Review and revise court filings prepared by outside counsel, including pleadings and substantive motions.
  • Attend arbitrations, mediations, settlement conferences, trials, critical depositions (e.g., Corporate Representative), and significant hearings and court events; travel may be required.
  • Oversee all aspects of internal discovery process, including reviewing and developing strategy on discovery requests and responses, collecting and producing internal documents, coordinating e-discovery, identifying and interviewing witnesses, and participating in key witness testimony preparations.
  • Manage reputational and brand protection as well as follow escalation protocols.
  • Prepare and present various internal and external reports on litigation and legal issues.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.


What You Bring To The Role
Required:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) and currently licensed to practice law with willingness to become licensed in Texas or Illinois.
  • In-house and law firm experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant litigation experience (first or second chair trial and deposition experience preferred).
  • Must be a resourceful self-starter, routinely taking initiative.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to a variety of audiences.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strict adherence to attorney/client confidentiality obligations.
  • Team player that can thrive and lead in a fast-paced, results-oriented work environment.
  • Excellent organizational, process development and project management skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to evolving business strategies.
  • Sound judgment and keen ability to weigh strengths and weaknesses of claims and defenses.
  • Adept in navigating and simplifying complex matters of law.
  • Advanced computer skills in PPT, Excel, Word, and email applications.


Base Salary Range :
$175,681.00 To $225,000.00. This represents the presently-anticipated low and high end of the Company's base salary range for this position. Actual base salary range may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location and experience.
Total Direct Compensation : This job is also eligible for discretionary bonus and incentive compensation on an annual basis.
Benefits : The Company provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
