Core Responsibilities

In this position, you will become global platform owner of our pre-pack technology area. This is where raw and decorated LEGO® elements are packed into bags. You will be responsible for software updates and changes in a wide variety of production platforms, including the attached equipment and production firewalls. You will, with a high level of autonomy and decision-making ability, continuously drive and optimize our platforms in close collaboration with stakeholders in R&D and other OT departments, as well as local resources (maintenance and production departments). This also includes coordination of new builds, major software reworks and retrofit projects – always with a focus on our high level of quality, requirements, and standards. More specifically, you will:

  • Standardize automation platforms in the pre-pack area.

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement for enhanced productivity, usability and serviceability.

  • Drive and define platform activities to ensure growth and robust production with novelties (new LEGO® bricks) and element specific changes in mind.

  • Support integration of pioneering production technology into Operational Technology (OT) Operations. 

  • Provide technical guidance for automation and IT architecture in development and design of automation/software for equipment in collaboration with suppliers and mechanical designers. 

  • Ensure modularity and robustness in automation and mechatronics related technology for next generation of production equipment. 

  • Support collaborative development of multi-functional team.

  • Provide IT knowledge to ensure innovative architecture for a digital future.

  • Actively engage colleagues, stakeholders and customers during and after ramp-up phase of new automation equipment.

OT Operations team is a key player in bringing LEGO bricks in the hands of kids and adults worldwide. They foster new and existing platforms and ensure effective implementation and continuous improvement of active platforms. OT supports and develops new and existing platforms with our partners in R&D. OT owns PLC and robot software on all of our platforms – locally and globally. 

The team consists of 10 highly skilled and dedicated colleagues located in Denmark, Hungary and Czech Republic.

Do you have what it takes?

The ideal candidate comes with 3+ years of experience in the automation area working with automation system programming and mechatronics applications. You bring a learning attitude, curiosity and the ability to see opportunities and challenges with a holistic view. In addition, you have:

  • Strong B&R PLC system installation / troubleshooting (development, design, and software programming) experience - Allen Bradley, Beckhoff and Siemens knowledge is a plus.

  • Ability to quickly understand and manipulate complex PLC programs to fit dynamic production processes.

  • Insights into Studio 5000 software and/or B&R Automation Studio.

  • Knowledge and interest in communication protocols (Ethernet/IP and OPC UA), as well as making production data available in a standardized format.

  • Hands-on experience in functional safety using safety controller, electrical diagram design, and troubleshooting.

  • Knowledge of new technologies and innovative consumer trends.

  • Able to read, understand and write equipment design requirements, specifications and electrical drawings.

  • Project Management skills.

  • Self-driven team player who can navigate and contribute to a multicultural working environment.

  • Willingness to travel 30-40 days per year.

  • Advanced English, Czech language is a plus.

Furthermore, it would be an advantage, if you have basic IT bridge building competences such as: 

  • Experience with DevOps principles like Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD).

  • Experience with APIs (ReST, OData).
