About the job
As an Automation Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to manage individual electrical projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to budget and schedule. You will have the opportunity to provide comprehensive electrical engineering designs, CAD drawings, and implement automation technologies such as PLC’s and HMI’S. This is a hybrid opportunity based in Buffalo, NY.
As a part of the team, you will:
- Manage the electrical/automation scope of capital and aftermarket (parts/service) orders.
- Generate electrical scope quotations for the sales team.
- Provide electrical engineering design, adhering to best practices, required codes, and customer specifications.
- Utilize CAD software to develop drawing packages.
- Program PLC, HMI, and connectivity equipment.
- Support purchasing of electrical components.
- Create functional descriptions and operating manuals as required.
- Prove functional performance by performing and documenting hardware tests.
- Support Customers and Field Technicians by troubleshooting site issues with automation packages, including travel and direct communication with customers and suppliers as needed.
- Participate in group continuous improvement initiatives and specific product line R&D.
- Up to 30% travel expected domestically and internationally.
What you know:
You have bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, with relevant experience and:
- Minimum 3 years of comprehensive experience with Rockwell Software (Allen Bradley) required, additional Siemens background strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication (verbal & written) and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical.
- Familiarity with Allen Bradley & Siemens PLC and HMI software.
- Experience with National Electric Code (NEC) and hazardous area installations.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong desire to provide quality service with a team approach to achieve customer satisfaction.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows.
- Proficient in electrical troubleshooting.
- Networking capabilities.
- Cross-cultural understanding.
- Must be a self-starter and driven to succeed.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
