Audio Describer

3Play Media is a growing, profitable technology company revolutionizing how people consume online media. Our premium live captioning, transcription, audio description, and translation solutions serve over 10,000 higher ed, enterprise, media, and government customers. Established in 2007 at MIT Sloan, we've since expanded with headquarters in Boston, MA, and offices in Minneapolis, MN, and Calgary, AB.

We are looking for a talented creative writer to create, edit, and narrate audio description (AD) scripts for network and streaming television programming, along with other video content. The purpose of these scripts is to make the visual content accessible to a blind or low-vision audience.

DAY TO DAY:

• Swing shift hours: 3:30 pm 12:00 am
• Write clear, concise scripts describing on-screen visuals in language appropriate to the style
  and intended audience of the program
• Develop and utilize efficient research methods
• Follow instructions and adapt writing style with feedback given from team leadership
• Review and edit peers' scripts while providing creative and technical feedback
• Create transcripts or other specialized script files
• Listen to and work with the blind and low-vision community to better understand the perspectives of our audience
• Complete projects on schedule within a tight deadline environment 
• Document progress of each job using in-house scheduling software
• Perform other related and assigned duties

WHO YOU ARE: 

• 2- or 4-year degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Broadcasting, TV/Film Production, or equivalent
  experience (an advanced degree in Creative Writing is a plus)
• Strong creative writing skills, including the ability to describe on-screen action
• Strong, clear speaking voice (experience in voiceover, acting, radio, or broadcasting a plus)
• Ability to adapt to a unique writing style and edit other individuals' scripts
• Ability to learn various software programs, including audio editing and mixing
• Willingness to work occasional overtime based on business need
