Are you our next Science professional that independently plans and executes laboratory science? Do you have experience with analyzing and reporting data and conclusions to further progress research programs?
As an Associate Scientist at IFF you will be part of the Tilburg Analytical Services R&D group, focused on delivering high quality analytical solutions and results to support IFF R&D projects and commercial initiatives. You will be part of a team conducting cutting-edge analytical chemistry research for taste and scent to drive continued business growth at IFF.
In this temporary position (min 6 months), you will conduct laboratory bench experiments in the area of analytical research and support including GC-FID, HPLC and GC-MS analysis.
Daily activities include registration and preparation of samples for analysis, instrumental acquisition and interpretation of data in a timely matter. The ability to solve small technical problems and work independently is also expected.
Being at the forefront of taste and scent analysis requires sufficient understanding of relevant analytical tools and methods. This position is for an associate scientist with significant skills and interests in bench-level technical work and requires understanding of key analytical techniques such as chromatography (GC and LC) preferably combined with mass spectrometry and lab automation.
What are your responsibilities:
- Conduct laboratory bench analytical work as required including (automated) sample preparation, data acquisition using GC-FID, GC-MS and HPLC analysis
- Sample administration, data interpretation and data reporting.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of (automated) analytical approaches
- Work independently under supervision
- (Time-) management of assigned tasks
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have:
- Technical (MBO) degree with 4-5 years of appropriate experience or BS (HBO) degree with 0-2 years of appropriate experience
- Demonstrated expertise in sample preparation and chromatography
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Affinity with automation and computers
- Fluent in English language
- Basic in Dutch language
