The Associate Scientist, CMC Development II is a bench level job in the Research and Development group at Ferring and will focus on innovative research and early development of novel microbiome-directed therapeutics and production methods.

Responsibilities:

  • Collection and analyses of samples by microbial techniques and powder characterization methods (water content, particle size analysis, etc.) to support development of cGMP manufacturing processes. Includes organization and execution of assays, organization of data, and communication of results.

  • Maintain detailed records of experimental data.

  • Contribute to the writing of batch records, SOP’s, protocols, and reports.

  • Assist with general lab maintenance duties including general equipment maintenance, cleanliness, and organization of the laboratory, and ordering common supplies.

  • Interface with Quality Control/Assurance, Regulatory, and Manufacturing teams as necessary

  • Collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary R&D team

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree (0-3 years of experience) or bachelor’s degree (5-8 years of experience) in Microbiology, Bacterial Physiology, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

  • 3-6 years’ experience in a commercial or academic research laboratory environment.

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical GXP regulated work is highly desired.

  • Strong data organization skills and strong technical writing skills required.

  • Experience executing and documenting analytical assays related to bacterial viability and powder characteristics is highly desired.

  • Experience with pharmaceutical process techniques is highly desired.

  • Ability and desire to work independently as well as in a collaborative team-environment.

  • Energetic and self-motivated individual able to work in a team environment with relentlessly progressing schedules and shifting priorities.

  • Detail-oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills and problem-solving skills.

Our Compensation and Benefits   

At Ferring, base salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is $67,000 to $83,000, which is the reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount paid may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education and primary work location. Additional compensation for this role will be provided based on competitive annual incentive compensation targets in the form of an annual bonus - payouts are based on individual and company performance.

  

Benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with a premium differential, inverse to base salary, to be paid by employees, a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, wellness benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full time employees to accrue up to 120 hours in the first four (4) years of employment, and 160 hours in the fifth (5th) year of employment as well as 15 paid holidays per year.
