Job Description

Role summary:

  • Ares Asia is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented individual for a full-time Associate role in its Operations team, located in our Mumbai office.

  • The successful candidate will work within the Operations team to assist in managing the operational infrastructure of the Firm. The Operations group supports all aspects of investment support working very closely with the investment team on both credit and private equity deals as well as some aspects of fund administration working closely with external fund administrator as well as addressing investors queries. The job role will be varied and give the successful candidate broad exposure to the controls and processes required in the day-to-day operations of a well-established prestige investment firm.

  • He/she will benefit from working in a dynamic, motivated and experienced team of operations professionals. He/she will also be work closing within the team to be given hands on training and mentoring to assist in his/her professional development. This position is a result of expansion of the Firm and an additional headcount which will provide an all-rounded exposure in the Investment Operations team of the firm to the candidate.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Perform treasury management for and assist with cashflow inputs for investments, bank account opening process, maintenance and bank compliance reporting.

  • Liaise and work with the bank on account opening for various SPVs Calculation of subline facility interest and work closely on the maintenance of the credit facilities of the funds including loan drawdown, repayment and rollover.

  • Monitor credit facilities/fund investments for potential margin calls and manage cash buffer as well as risk trackers on these.

  • Prepare intercompany/external payments for treasury management

  • Prepare weekly/quarterly reporting including but not limited to hedging and monitoring reports

  • Perform FX trade matching, input and settlement

  • Undertake works in connection with the company’s Anti Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) controls, including but not limited to Periodic Review on Portfolio Companies

  • Maintain data alignment of internal system and support systems integration to global platform

  • Prepare documentation such as board minutes/resolutions, meeting summary/notes, structure chart etc.

  • Review and manage different reporting tasks including co-investors, weekly operations monitoring and quarterly Fund reporting for Investment Operations. 

  • Work closely with external Fund Administrator for various support tasks including Management Fee calculation, ILPA, and manage the closing funds flow process including maintenance of the operational records and files.

  • Work on ad hoc projects as they arise

Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high growth environment

  • At least 4 to 6 years of experience in accounting, audit, finance, KYC/AML Compliance, fund operations and investment operations is preferred

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to details

  • Knowledge of complex fund structures, and understanding of legal entity organizational set up (will be preferred)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Multi-tasking skills and willing to work in a dynamitic environment and keen to learn beyond regular routine responsibilities 

  • Ability to communicate effectively and succinctly in English; knowledge of Mandarin will be a plus

  • Proficiency in MS Excel & Word
