As an Associate General Counsel, Investments, you will primarily support OKX Ventures, OK Group’s venture capital arm, our Hong Kong listed company, and provide counsel on general commercial matters. You will also work closely with all members of the Global Legal team and business leaders throughout the company. You will be working from our offices in Hong Kong.
The right candidate will have relevant legal experience and an enthusiastic belief in the cryptocurrency/digital asset space, experience working for a top-tier law firm or in-house at a prestigious financial services, technology or cryptocurrency company, and possess excellent writing and analytical skills. What You’ll Be Doing
- Take lead on advising the group’s proposed and ongoing investments on a global basis, be responsible for all stages of the investments, from due diligence to closing, and on any subsequent issues that may arise.
- Take lead on advising our Hong Kong listed company on all legal and regulatory matters, including on matters concerning the Hong Kong Listing Rules.
- Liaise with and update relevant internal and external stakeholders closely, including senior management, Compliance, Risk, etc.; take instructions and manage the expectations of project owners, counterparts; and, coordinate with external advisors as needed.
- Handle commercial contracts and other transactional matters in APAC and beyond.
- Advise senior legal management on ad hoc legal issues concerning the group.
- Provide ongoing support in monitoring the changes in the legal landscape relevant to cryptocurrency and technology in relevant jurisdictions.
What We Look For In You
- Common law degree holder (LLB/ J.D.)
- Qualified solicitor with 6+ years PQE
- Trained and qualified in Hong Kong, with relevant experience obtained in a reputable international law firm/organisation
- Experience in advising venture capital matters, and advising public companies on listing rules compliance
- Self-starter and self-motivated, able to take initiative and take ownership of legal matters
- Commitment to ensuring the team succeeds with all tasks, duties and projects and willingness to help a team member in need
- Sound judgment on business practices, internal and external stakeholder relationship management and reputational risk
- Proficiency in spoken and written English, working-level Mandarin required
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, presentable and with excellent communication skills (both verbally and in writing)
- Ability to approach situations and challenges with a sense of humour
Nice to Haves
- Experience in dealing with fund formation and investment management agreements
- In-house experience at a global financial institutions, technology company, or crypto exchange/Web3 company
- Experience in dealing with crypto matters and legal issues involving digital assets
