Job Title: Associate Engineer
The salary range for this position is dependent on experience level ranging from $64,000 to $88,000.00
Job Summary
This is an entry level Engineering position that provides an overall understanding of a utility system operation and in particular engineering areas. The Engineer uses existing procedures and processes to solve routine or standard problems. Work is under relatively close supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine, basic engineering analyses, designs and calculations using existing procedures and processes to solve routine or standard problems while applying limited judgment and discretion.
- Identifies solutions to straightforward requests.
- Develop basic engineering knowledge.
- Prepare, maintain, and understand drawings (e.g. schematics, one-line diagrams). Develop and specify equipment, assemble documents and other requirements for basic assignments.
- Develop competencies with departmental design standards, applicable engineering codes, design criteria and guidelines, applicable industry codes, and CNG/SCG policies and processes.
- Develops team effectiveness skills within own work team.
- Communicates information and responds to standard internal/external customer requests with assistance from others.
- Review standard internal/external customer requests.
- Prepare drawings, construction and material orders, and cost estimates for incorporation into final plans depending on others for instruction, guidance and direction to meet deadlines.
- Works to specify and design systems to address basic situations.
- Apply design standards, industry codes, design criteria, guidelines and company polices/procedures to basic assignments.
- Works within technical guidelines and direction provided by others to meet deadlines.
- Contribute to projects or process teams.
- Develops an awareness of costs related to own work and understands the company's business management practices.
- May contribute to project or process teams.
- Perform basic equipment selection research and recommendations with supportive documentation.
- Individual should have a basic knowledge of engineering theories, practices and procedures.
- Able to communicate information, ask questions and check for understanding.
- Able to work in a team environment and learn key business processes.
Required Qualifications
- Technical Skills/Competencies
- Theoretical Engineering knowledge: Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Analytics, Modeling & Calculation (e.g. sym. Components, per unit, etc.), Understanding the Business Model
- Practical Engineering Experience/Application: Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Construction, (e.g. field experience, standardization, develop business case and defend in front of stakeholders)
- Engineering documentation: Ability to adequately document and interpret engineering documentation, review and approve engineering work done by others
- Knowledge of Regulatory and Compliance Environment: Local, State and Federal Regulatory Standards and Requirements (NERC, NPCC, ISO, PUC, etc.)
- Theoretical Engineering knowledge: Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Analytics, Modeling & Calculation (e.g. sym. Components, per unit, etc.), Understanding the Business Model
- Functional Job Specific Competencies
- Power System Studies - Knowledge & Interpretation of Study Assumptions and Results: (e.g. Power Flow, Stability, Short Circuit, etc.)
- Software Proficiency - Power System Analytics: (e.g. PSSE, TARA, ASPEN, Enfuzion)
- Power System Studies - Knowledge & Interpretation of Study Assumptions and Results: (e.g. Power Flow, Stability, Short Circuit, etc.)
- Education & Experience Requirements:
- BSEE required
- 0-2 years of experience (Industry Related)
