Associate Director/Director, Business Development – IQVIA Biotech

The Role

IQVIA is currently looking to appoint a driven and experienced BD professional to drive sales and account management activities within the biotech sector in Switzerland. This is a critical appointment to expand our client base within the Swiss biotech market, and therefore we are seeking an ambitious individual with a proven track record in clinical sales.

The role will be responsible for increasing our client portfolio within Switzerland, and therefore be required to sell across the enterprise, including customized Phase I through IV global services. Responsibilities include managing relationships at all levels within the biotech organisational structure, including C-Suite and senior executives, with credible engagement. The role will be required to gather the necessary internal, external, and competitive intelligence on their clients, leveraging SMEs where appropriate, developing a robust, systematic account strategy and drive superior execution to identify, drive and expand the business across the entire IQVIA clinical solution portfolio.

Critically, candidates will be required to sell and close deals of significant size and therefore IQVIA needs to appoint a strategic sales and business development leader with the experience and gravitas to operate at this level.  Candidates will need to bring past solution selling expertise with a track record of leveraging organizational capabilities to upsell, driving a sophisticated and integrated sales approach to the benefit of the company.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be experienced in developing long term relationships, identifying business opportunities, and delivering tailored solutions to meet individual client needs. Strong communication skills are essential, along with analytical acuity and the ability to define, conceptualise and, ultimately, sell, the company’s integrated clinical solution portfolio.  The individual will need to display strong ‘hunting’ skills, to engage and open out new relationships, as well as broadening the opportunity within the existing client base.

The individual will be required to work collaboratively across the organization; a sophisticated approach to relationship building, both internal and external, will also be essential.

The individual will be required to ‘hit the ground running’ and, consequently, an established network within the market would be advantageous.

The appropriate drive and resilience will be reflected in a track record of R&D/Clinical and business development contribution in past roles.

Skills

  • 8 years of related experience in a CRO, pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment.
  • At least 8 years’ experience as a BD Associate/Director in a CRO environment.
  • Understanding of the clinical process (PH I – IV).
  • Solid understanding of the biotech segment, including commercialization and the principles of drug discovery and development.
  • A detailed understanding of the biotech market in Switzerland.
  • Fluency in German and/or French would be advantageous for this position.
  • The individual will preferably be based within Switzerland, but other locations within Europe will be considered.
