Location: This is a hybrid role and requires the candidate to be on-site at CB offices in Puerto Rico every Tuesday and Wednesday.  

Type: This is a full-time position 

 

About the Team   

The College Board Latin America office is a dedicated and collaborative group focused in serving thousands of students a year as they prepare for a successful transition to college through programs and services in college readiness and college success through our programs focused on the Latin American market, as the PAA, CB-LATAM’s flagship college readiness assessment, Pruebas de Ingreso y Evaluación para el Nivel Secundario (PIENSE), Conoce, Explora, Planifica y Actúa (CEPA) and Prueba de Nivel Avanzado (PNA) – collectively known as CB-LATAM’s PAA Suite of Assessments. Other CB-LATAM programs include English Language Assessment System for Hispanics (ELASH) and Prueba para la Certificación de Maestros – Puerto Rico (PCMAS). 

  

About the Opportunity     

The College Board's Latin America office (CB-LATAM) is actively seeking a highly skilled and passionate collaborator to join us as Associate Director of Special Initiatives and provide special assistance to the VP. In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of CB-LATAM matters, leading innovative projects, staying abreast of educational policy, driving relationship building efforts, fostering and cultivating partnerships, and providing indispensable executive support to the VP. Collaborating closely with the Executive Leadership Team of CB-LATAM, you will make substantial contributions towards achieving our organizational goals while upholding the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, problem-solving abilities, and be a driving force in creating opportunities for students in Latin America. This position is based in our office in San Juan, Puerto Rico. 

In this role, you will:   

  

Special Projects Management and Collaboration (40%) 

  • Lead special initiatives, showcasing a flexible and collaborative work style to proactively drive the successful execution of strategic projects, ensuring timely and accurate completion 

  • Manage the yearly Teacher Report Card (TRC) reporting process in collaboration with the head of the PCMAS program and be in direct contact with higher education institutions and the Puerto Rico Department of Education to ensure the yearly TRC process is completed successfully 

  • Process and track requisitions for goods and services, ensuring accuracy, timely approval, and adherence to budget guidelines 

  • Perform any other related duties assigned to support the objectives of the position, demonstrating a willingness to adapt and contribute to the evolving needs of the Vice President's office 

 

Communication and Relationship Building (30%) 

  • Support the Vice President in cultivating long-term strategic relationships with key organizations and individuals in relevant sectors, including the CB-LATAM Advisory Council. Your ability to build rapport and maintain professional relationships will contribute to the Vice President's network and partnerships 

  • Act as the central point of contact for the Office of the Vice President, effectively liaising with internal and external stakeholders. Your exceptional communication skills will facilitate efficient and clear communication channels 

  • Conduct research and gather background materials to provide comprehensive briefing materials for various purposes. Your ability to analyze and synthesize information will assist the Vice President in making informed decisions and effectively representing the organization 

  • Prepare and review documents, ensuring adherence to standards and good form, and maintaining meticulous records for the office. Your attention to detail will guarantee accurate and organized documentation, enhancing the efficiency of the Vice President's office 

 

Executive Support (30%) 

  • Provide support to the LATAM Executive Leadership Team by assisting with their schedules and offering executive support as needed 

  • Plan and coordinate the Vice President's attendance at events, seminars, and appearances, taking charge of all details including travel arrangements, expense reporting, and providing the necessary information to ensure smooth participation 

  • Serve as the lead writer and project manager for the VP office, demonstrating exceptional writing skills in both English and Spanish. You will be responsible for crafting compelling speeches, articles, and briefing materials on diverse topics, aligning with the Vice President's vision and objectives 

  • Plan and execute office events and activities, including leadership team meetings, workshops, conferences, and team-building events, while efficiently managing calendars and schedules to ensure smooth execution and organization 

About You 

To excel in this role, you possess the following qualifications: 

  • A minimum of five years of experience providing support to senior-level executives, preferably in a fast-paced administrative or executive office 

  • A bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field, or equivalent training and experience 

  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is essential to effectively communicate and engage with stakeholders in diverse linguistic contexts 

  • Demonstrated excellence in research, writing, and editing skills, enabling you to produce high-quality documents and communications 

  • Strong interpersonal skills, combined with a profound understanding of protocol and customs in academia, enable you to establish and nurture effective relationships across diverse backgrounds and organizational hierarchies 

  • Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to research complex issues, enabling you to provide insightful analysis and effectively communicate findings 

  • Strong project management skills, including meticulous attention to detail, proactive initiative, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and follow-through on tasks 

  • A collaborative work style that allows you to represent the viewpoints of the Vice President and Executive Team, fostering a culture of inclusivity and teamwork 

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to accurate documentation 

  • Adaptability to ambiguous situations and the ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality and discretion 

  • An understanding of and respect for the diversity of backgrounds and identities in the community, ensuring an inclusive and supportive work environment 

  • Experience working in a distributed and/or remote work environment, demonstrating the ability to thrive in virtual collaboration and effectively manage remote workflows 

  • Fluidity in use of Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant technology tools, ensuring efficient use of digital resources for documentation, collaboration, and data analysis 

  • Ability and willingness to travel (~ one trip per month) including internationally 

  • Ability to work on-site (two days a week and more as per business need). 

  • Authorization to work in the USA for any employer 

 

About Our Process

The hiring range for a new employee in this position is $50,000 to $65,000. 

The College Board differentiates salaries by location so where you live will narrow the portion of this range in which you can expect a salary.  Your salary will be carefully determined based on your location, relevant experience, the external labor market, and the pay of College Board employees in similar roles.
