The Opportunity
The Associate Director, External Quality & Business Development will work out of our Alameda, CA location in the Diabetes Care division.
What You’ll Work On
- Leads strategy, management and support of global Third Party Manufactures (TPM), Suppliers and External Partners for ADC, including Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), and Tier II suppliers proviing materials direct to the TPMs.
- Establishes and maintains quality systems to ensure products can be manufactured to the highest quality to exceed customer needs.
- Interfacing with all levels of Management within Abbott, Suppliers, TPMs and External Partners.
- Responsible for meeting supply chain resilience, GMI and business continuity to support a $10Bn business.
- Maintains a progressive supplier quality strategy by influencing strategic decision making beyond direct functional area.
- Third Party management of domestic and international sites for finished device manufacturing including yield and quality data reports, finished device acceptance, validation, external inspections, incoming, equipment calibration and maintenance activities.
- Builds strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders departmental and organizational objectives delivering Supply chain reliance & business continuity, as a business leader to further supplier management to deliver a $5Bn business with future growth to $10Bn
- Champions quality and compliance through awareness of requirements
- Develops operational strategy that comprehends and anticipates external compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Recruits, coaches and develops talent, fostering a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives.
- Management of department budget, expansion budgets, qualifications, incident resolution, metric reporting and validation for division products and parts (e.g, molded parts, assemblies, sterilization, finished products).
- Third Party management of domestic and international sites for finished device manufacturing including yield and quality data reports, finished device acceptance, validation, external inspections, incoming, equipment calibration and maintenance activities.
- Management of TPMs for offsite inspections and miscellaneous quality activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Minimum 10 years Experience in Quality Assurance/Regulatory & Operations in company with medically focused manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of regulations and standards affecting Medical Device manufacturing (e.g. QSR, ISO, EN Quality System Requirements).
- Demonstrated experience with development, implementation and management of company-wide quality system procedures/practices.
- Minimum 4 years in management of direct resources or cross functional teams with a proven ability to work successfully cross-functionally and collaboratively to problem solve, initiate and manage projects, influence internal and external groups and provide leadership from a quality perspective.
