Capital Markets & Syndicate (“CM&S”) within Global Markets is responsible for originating, advising and the execution of primary market debt issuance for clients across the government, semi-government, SSA, financial institution and corporate sectors globally. It includes Debt Capital Markets (DCM) which leads origination and Bond Syndicate which leads distribution. CM&S acts as a link between various partners both internally and externally to drive new primary market debt transactions. Bond Syndicate works closely with Fixed Income Sales, Trading, DCM, Loan Markets Origination, Securitisation, Client Coverage and Credit Risk teams.
Do work that matters
This position will predominantly provide specialist syndicate advisory and services for IB&M’s global client base with regards to issuance including the domestic AUD/NZD markets and across a variety of currencies in line with overall Global Markets strategy.
Key tasks will include but not be limited to:

Working with Sales, Trading and DCM to bring new primary bond issues to the domestic AUD/NZD markets.

As an experienced member of the team, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end new issue process from mandate through execution including pricing and overseeing settlement.

Across the sectors you will be formulating and communicating pricing guidance, issuance strategies and demand profiles both directly to issuer clients and via the broader DCM team.

Structuring and pricing of new issue AUD/NZD bonds and effectively articulating the nuances of relative value and rates market inputs into pricing to issuer clients. Work with swap trading and sales on liability management as well as risk hedging and clearing.

Liaise and maintain dialogue with key issuer clients in support of senior originators in order to keep abreast of funding plans/needs with a view towards providing guidance.

Working closely with the global sales and trading teams, identify opportunities for private placement or reverse enquiry driven transactions for the DCM issuer client base.

Monitor and co-ordinate the transaction management activities post-pricing to include liaison with settlements and Bloomberg, transaction bookings as well as support Transaction Management in documenting transactions, as required.

Manage regular, internal reporting requirements for risk positions, funding requirements and P&L.

Aiding with the general marketing to clients of the Bank’s capabilities. This may require travel.

Are committed candidates, seeking to build on a strong foundation developed in investment banking, a corporate or institutional bank or debt advisory firm. Further, you’ll bring;

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a bond markets role in either Syndicate, DCM, Sales or Trading

Strong understanding of fixed income products to include cash and derivative markets both short and long term
-
Knowledge of the Australian issuer landscape across sectors including banks and corporates
-
Analytical with excellent numerical and problem-solving skills
-
High energy, able to operate at pace and bring a growth mindset

Strong IT skills to include MS Office, Bloomberg and other financial markets platforms. Programming skills desirable

High level appreciation of the regulatory and non-financial risk environment in which the role operates.

Tertiary qualification in finance or business-related field & AFMA accredited
