Assistant Technologist
Our Own Label team are now looking for a Hardlines Assistant Technologist to join us here at Harrods and play a key role in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. You will support the Hardlines technical development, factory evaluation, and inspection processes to guarantee that our products are fit for purpose and align with our brand values.
About the Role
In this role you will be responsible for working closely with suppliers, technologists, and internal stakeholders to ensure the seamless development of our product ranges while maintaining technical excellence, efficiency, and compliance.
Other responsibilities will include:
- You will work across Toys, Stationary, Homewares and Seasonal product categories.
- Fit Sessions & Product Testing – Organising weekly fit sessions, maintain fit logs, and ensure timely feedback to suppliers.
- Compliance & Legal Standards – Ensuring all products meet legal and safety requirements for different markets.
- Technical Documentation – Assisting in completing Design Packs, ensuring technical details are accurate for costings and approvals.
- Supplier & Factory Management – Maintaining communication with suppliers, monitor audit expiry dates, and track compliance reports.
- Sustainability & Quality Control – Supporting sustainability initiatives and product testing to meet Harrods' ethical and environmental commitments.
- Issue Resolution – Investigating non-compliant products, support stock movements, and ensure timely resolutions.
- Trend & Market Research – Conducting competitor benchmarking on materials, finishes, and innovations to enhance product development.
About You
You will be a highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive professional with a passion for product quality and technical development. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, ensuring seamless product launches and supporting Harrods’ reputation for excellence in Own Label products.
You will also have:
- You will have worked with Hardlines categories, including Toys, Seasonal, Homeware and Stationary.
- Experience in a similar role, ideally within a premium or luxury brand.
- Knowledge of product construction, fabric technology, and testing.
- Understanding of compliance legislation, certifications, and sustainability initiatives.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, including experience working with suppliers and factories.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) and experience with product management systems.
