Job Description:

What will you work on?
The Associate Engineer will be responsible for assisting, supporting and driving the execution of certain toy portfolios, ideally possessing a technical, manufacturing, product design and/or project management engineering background. The person in this role will work closely with large cross-functional teams (Design, Marketing, Engineering, Quality, Packaging, etc.) to assist in managing the product development cycle from concept through production and customer feedback.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to; establishing critical path/milestones and dependencies to ensure timely and successful delivery of products, identifying risks and opportunities to pre-empt development hurdles, providing escalation management, and working with stakeholders to balance business, design, and technical objectives. The successful candidate will be able to operate in a highly dynamic CPG environment, working on the most innovative products and solutions, by exercising considerable judgment in employing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results while continuously driving for improvements of existing practises.
How will you create impact?
Establish project plans in collaboration with cross-functional development teams to determine tasks, milestones, resources, planned and actual dates
Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams and global partners, communicating brand and/or project information, and executing to take product from concept to production
Manage programs to time, cost, and quality reflective of business and development objectives
Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs
Identify, anticipate, and manage risks or issues at the project level and resources as needed
Partner with global operations to provide early warning of delays, and strategize appropriate solutions in development plans or processes to deliver on demand forecast revisions
Support and drive cross-functional category teams to manage projects including risks, key handoffs, and deliverables
Monitor resource utilization within the program and recommend adjustments to resource allocation as needed
Report and escalate to management as needed; present verbal and written reports defining plans, problems, and resolutions to appropriate levels of management
Continuously improve project management toolkits, processes, and methodologies utilized for product development
What are your skills and experience?
BS degree in Engineering, Operations, or related technical field
Experience leading teams and using project management tools to guide development
Toy or CPG experience an asset
PMP qualification or training an asset
Ability to collaborate with creative professionals within design, engineering, marketing, and packaging, while holding each team accountable for deliverables.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
Ability to employ critical thinking and demonstrate a "hands-on" team approach to solving problems
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment
Apply problem solving techniques to approach any/all issues. If unable to resolve, demonstrates a willingness to actively engage other teams to drive resolution
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
Experience with plastics, materials, manufacturing, and/or engineering costs for durable goods is an asset
Proactive and enthusiastic in approaching challenges, with a solution-oriented mindset
Operate with moderate supervision in technical and organizational capacities, and understanding of when to escalate as necessary
Ability to take direction and flex execution style based on feedback from teams
