Job Description
As Assistant Management Accountant, you will support the Financial Controller and Senior Management Accountant in delivering high-quality financial management and reporting to support the company’s strategic and operational goals. You will act as a key contributor in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and insightful analysis for effective decision-making.
Your tasks will include:
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and forecasts.
- Assist in preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy in reconciliations and journal entries.
- Maintain and manage Fixed Assets registers, calculating depreciation and monitoring prepayments and accruals.
- Assist in compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, and audit requirements.
- Support group consolidation processes using Hyperion/Opera, including intercompany reconciliations and reporting.
- Prepare quarterly VAT and EC Sales returns, PAYE/NIC reconciliations, and annual PSA returns.
- Adhere to and maintain robust systems for financial data archiving and reporting for audits.
- Support ad-hoc finance initiatives provide cover for wider finance team during holidays or absences.
Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Prior experience in a finance or accounting role, ideally within management accounting.
- Experience in preparing financial reports and managing accounting processes.
- Strong proficiency in Excel (including advanced functions like pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
- Knowledge of financial regulations, VAT, and tax reporting requirements.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify issues and suggest solutions.
Desired Skills
- AAT qualified or studying towards ACCA/CIMA qualification (or equivalent) is desirable.
- Proactive, with a keen interest in improving processes and learning new skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a solutions-oriented mindset.
- Reliable, with a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with stakeholders and resolving financial queries.
