Position Overview:
Ameresco currently has an opportunity for an Assistant General Counsel based out of our HQ in Framingham, MA to join our Corporate Legal team. This role will consist of drafting complex contracts and providing legal counsel to our energy services and renewable energy business units. This position reports directly to the Executive Vice President.
Responsibilities

Participate in the negotiation of contracts for energy services and renewable energy projects and provide advice with respect to ongoing management of projects under construction or in operation.

Draft, review, and negotiate professional services, energy services, and implementation services contracts, financing agreements, and confidentiality agreements.

Review existing agreements to ensure compliance with all contract provisions as well as administration of corporate policies and standards.

Review and analyze financial and contractual aspects of proposals, offers, and contracts.

Collaborate with management to support risk management strategies related to insurance coverage, proper contract language, and development of policies and procedures. Review existing agreements to ensure compliance with all contract provisions as well as administration of corporate policies and standards.

Identify risk management issues for ongoing project management.

Assist in resolution of construction-related issues with customers, contractors, and subcontractors.

Assist with corporate and subsidiary organization, governance, and maintenance.

Review and analyze regulatory compliance matters.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Master’s degree in legal studies or J.D. or other advanced degree in the field.

Minimum 8 years of transactional legal experience in corporate or commercial in-house legal function or law firm.

Admitted to practice in Massachusetts.

Travel may be required from time to time
Additional Qualifications:

Expertise in renewable energy project development preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills while working with C-suite and board-level executives.

Effectively and efficiently manage multiple priorities, including managing multiple enterprise contract negotiations.

Strong business acumen, curiosity, and delivery-oriented attitude.
