Leidos Corporate Legal is seeking a dynamic Assistant General Counsel - Employment Law. This position requires an Attorney experienced in all areas of employment and labor law, including EEO matters (both federal and state), wage/hour issues, immigration, disability issues, OSHA compliance, employee benefits, compensation, arbitration, mediation, international employment issues, and potential union issues. The candidate will report to the Vice President and Senior Assistant General Counsel - Employment Law. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and work well with all levels of human resources management and staff, while participating in a collegial, team-oriented environment.
This role will be based in Reston - VA with flexibility to telework up to 50% per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide advice on a broad range of employment issues, including HR policies and practices; employee relations issues and investigations involving misconduct, retaliation, discrimination, and harassment; performance management, reasonable accommodations, and more.
- Perform complex legal assignments, including gathering and evaluating facts, researching applicable laws, and providing legal advice and recommendations to clients.
- Draft and negotiate legal documents; provide work direction and guidance to paralegals and other administrative staff.
- Manage employment administrative and litigation matters, including oversight of outside counsel on all aspects of employment litigation matters.
- Coordinate with international employment counsel to ensure compliance with local law on international initiatives outside of the United States.
- Partner with HR and Management to develop and implement business-focused solutions strategies, and training to address ongoing and potential labor & employment issues.
- Identify areas of improvement in HR and related risk management processes.
Required Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor and minimum of 7 years of in-depth employment law experience at a major law firm or in-house position within a respected legal department.
- Demonstrated skills in client management and ability to communicate effectively with clients.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to professionalism, integrity, and collegiality.
- Superior written and oral communication skills.
- Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad range of employment law matters.
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently without extensive supervision.
- Hard-working team player with a can do attitude.
Desired Qualifications:
- Virginia membership preferred (or willingness to obtain VA Corporate Counsel).
- Strong academic background with a Juris Doctorate from a top law school.
We may consider an offer above the salary range depending on the experience and skills a candidate brings to the position.

Pay Range:Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00
