The Divisional Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial health of a specific division within the company. This role involves implementing financial management strategies, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, supporting divisional operations, and contributing to the annual budgeting process.
Essential Functions
- Financial Oversight: Manage and oversee all financial operations of the division, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Audit Coordination: Lead and coordinate all audits related to the division, including internal and external audits, to ensure compliance and accurate financial records.
- Divisional Tax Compliance: Support tax planning and compliance specific to the division's needs, working closely with the Corporate Controller.
- Risk Management: Manage divisional risk by maintaining insurance contracts and acting as the primary contact for insurance claims and risk assessments.
- Treasury and Cash Management: Oversee divisional cash flow and treasury activities, including negotiating lease terms for major capital projects.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and present monthly financial statements and reports to divisional leadership and the corporate office.
- Fixed Assets: Oversee division-specific fixed asset management and ensure the proper approval processes are followed for capital expenditures.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct detailed financial analysis to evaluate division performance, identify trends, and suggest areas for improvement or cost savings.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process for the division and support long-term financial planning.
Experience, Education and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accountancy, Business, or Finance. MBA and CPA strongly preferred.
- Experience: 7+ years in accounting or finance roles, with at least 3 years in a managerial position.
- Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Familiarity with financial software and ERP systems is an advantage.
- Certifications: CPA preferred but not required.
