Job Description
This role is accountable for the end to end internal and external reporting for subsidiaries of Old Mutual. It includes accounting transactions, reporting, tax calculations and submission.
Role requirements:

Analyse actuarial return and other portfolio information for certain entities to inform journals to be performed

Perform journals from bank statement movements and other sources
-
Processes journal entries in relation to the shareholder entities, timeously and accurately.

Performs calculations to determine financial transactions required
-
Ensures that the financial records, including the trail balance is valid, accurate and complete.

Performs inter-company reconciliations and confirmation of balances and corrects mismatches timeously.

Reconciliation of all Balance sheet accounts, including bank account, ensuring that reconciling items are constantly monitored and actioned, and that there are no long outstanding reconciling items.

Follows up on long outstanding debt owed to and by the business unit

Prepares documentation for payments on behalf of entities

Prepares, and submits within agreed deadlines:

HFM Submissions (Monthly, Half Yearly, Annually)

Disclosure submissions

Analytical Reviews

CFO sign off
-
Assist with preparation of business plan and quarterly forecasts

Produces Balance sheet reports
-
Prepare VAT calculation
-
Complete VAT and Tax submissions
-
Assist with preparation of the annual financial statements and running of audits until completion

Compile monthly management accounts including analytical commentary

Compile SHIR determination on portfolio level and indirect calculation of RFO
-
Compile tax ABU submission and relevant Tax schedules where required.
Experience
-
B.Com Qualification or higher
-
5+ years’ relevant finance experience
Prepares reports on the organisation’s cash flow by checking the accuracy of the records, the bank account entries and transactions, and the movement of values. Maintains appropriate records for the short- and medium-term analysis and its forecast.
ResponsibilitiesTreasury
Deliver operational plans in line with the overall treasury strategy.
Data Collection and Analysis
Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.
Data Management
Help others get the most out of data management systems by providing support and advice.
Insights and Reporting
Contribute to the preparation of various data and analytics reports.
Operational Compliance
Identify, within the team, instances of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these instances and escalating issues as appropriate.
Financial Policies, Guidelines, and Protocols
Contribute to the development and delivery of financial policies, guidelines, and protocols to ensure the company complies with regulations and good financial practice.
Document Preparation
Organize and prepare complex documents using a variety of applications for technology devices, such as standard office software. Also responsible for gathering and summarizing data for special reports.
Information and Business Advice
Resolve queries from internal or external customers or suppliers by providing information on complex processes and the related policies, referring issues to others where necessary for interpretation of policy.
Financial Management and Control
Track progress against budgets within established finance systems, and report variances to more senior colleagues.
Personal Capability Building
Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
