Assistant Designer

FIGS is looking for an Assistant Designer to join our innovative Design team. The ideal candidate is passionate about creating ridiculously comfortable apparel for the modern medical professional. This is a unique opportunity to support product creation and collaborate cross-functionally while learning from a team that’s constantly pushing boundaries in design and innovation.

What You’ll DoDesign Support

• Execute product direction set forth by Designers and Leadership aligned with FIGS’ Brand DNA.

• Interpret concept direction for specific products and support the Designer throughout the process.

• Develop foundational design skills while executing the Designer’s vision.

Research & Development

• Conduct seasonal desktop research and contribute to focus group conversations.

• Collaborate with the Design team to research and ideate new styles and improvements to existing categories.

• Take design direction from senior team members and apply accordingly.

Brand DNA, Design, and Innovation

• Exhibit a strong design eye and a passion for apparel.

• Sketch new concepts and assist with revisions, including coloring CADs.

• Create original artwork under the guidance of senior designers and present in a professional format.

• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and hand sketching.

Presentations

• Assist in the preparation of presentation materials, sample racks, swatches, and meeting organization.

• Take detailed notes during presentations and design meetings; follow through on tasks in a timely manner.

• Maintain and update color palettes and other design tools.

• Support digital and physical setup of design presentations.

• Keep Core and Limited Edition CADs up to date with color selections and swatches.

• Ensure the design studio and materials are organized and presentable.

Tech Packs

• Set up and maintain tech packs and create BOMs (Bills of Materials).

• Learn and utilize templates and tools to support the design team.

• Organize files efficiently and maintain clarity across documentation.

• Execute clean, accurate flat technical sketches in collaboration with Designers.

• Experience with PLM or similar apparel software (preferred).

Fittings

• Take notes during fittings and document feedback.

• Assist in organizing fittings, including gathering support garments and reference samples.

• Help update designs and manage samples following weekly fittings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Fashion Design (preferred).

• 1–2 years of experience as a Design Assistant or in apparel design.

• Strong understanding of apparel design and product creation process.

• Proficient in digital and hand sketching.

• Exceptional time management, communication, and presentation skills.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and stay organized.

• Proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Word.

FIGS Compensation and Benefits

Pay Range

• This role's hourly rate is between $25 and $30. Actual hourly rate is determined based on a number of factors, including but not limited to your relevant skills, qualifications, and years of experience.
