Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the preparation and analysis of accurate financial statements based on actual results. Consolidate, analyze and report financials in compliance with reporting regulations.
  • Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a discipline and analytical thinking to execute policy/strategy. Basic knowledge of related job disciplines.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
  • Jobs at this level function with some autonomy but are subject to functional practices and precedents or are covered by well-defined policies or review of end results. The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).
  • Uses some judgment and has the ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated, day-to-day problems. Has ability to prioritize information for data analysis. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
  • Research and resolution of complex technical accounting issues including the application of new/proposed standards.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify/streamline financial processes and workflows, enhancing the accuracy, timeliness, and effectiveness of financial operations.
  • Perform Ad-hoc special projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related filed from an accredited university or college
  • At least 5-8 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance for large-scale multinational operations
  • Demonstrated proficiency in U.S. GAAP/IFRS/JGAAP
  • Business-Level Japanese required, Native Japanese preferred" Business Level English- highly preferred
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Advisory mindset. Proven ability to interpret complex financial data, synthesize trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Communication & Presentation Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting financial insights to non-financial stakeholders and executive leadership. Being able to write and review detailed, nuanced technical accounting conclusions; Demonstrating the agility to translate granular technical accounting answers into clear, concise impact presentations (verbal and written) to leadership across the organization.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Operating with excellence: Setting an example in driving actions plans and delivering excellence, promoting a customer environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning.

Desired Characteristics

  • Certified Public Accountant or equivalent (i.e. Chartered Accountant)
  • Demonstrated ability to working in cross functional teams or in matrixed organization with sound understanding of global process and transactional flows
  • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Adaptable/ Flexible: Ability to work beyond role boundaries or with uncertainty & fluid situations- able to embrace change in response to new information, unexpected or different circumstances and ambiguous situation
  • Is quality conscious- provides quality deliverables consistently and has an eye for details
  • Is organized and manages time well
  • Experience applying SOX requirements
  • Confidence / Assertiveness: strong influencing skills across business functions; confidence to approach business leaders with difficult messages and defend position
