In this role, you will work closely with the City Administration team to drive initiatives that shape the future of our vibrant community. From fostering partnerships with local organizations to overseeing special projects, you’ll be a key player in supporting the strategic vision of the city and building connections with residents, businesses, and community leaders.

The ideal candidate is someone who can step up and assist in formulating a vision for the community; build and maintain strong community relationships; and communicate clearly and concisely with staff, community partners, and residents. They will be an advocate for the City, willing to be visible, meet the public, and engage staff at all levels of the organization.

The Opportunity:

  • Build Bridges: Cultivate strong relationships across departments, organizations, and the public to advance the city’s strategic goals. Build your professional credibility as you partner with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Track & Report: Help track progress on key initiatives, preparing insightful reports that keep the City Administrator, City Council, and community members informed.
  • Engage the Community: Connect with diverse community groups—Neighborhood Associations, businesses, schools, and more—to gather feedback and strengthen communication channels.
  • Problem Solve: Use your expertise to investigate issues and recommend solutions, ensuring excellent customer service for our residents.
  • Event Planning & Coordination: Be a part of organizing special city events, from community forums to city-wide celebrations, that bring our residents together.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration or a related field, plus 3-5 years of experience in communications, administration, or a similar role. Local government experience is strongly preferred.
  • Competencies: Strong verbal and written communication skills, a talent for multitasking, and the ability to stay adaptable. You should be able to build rapport with community members, work across various teams, and thrive in a collaborative setting. Ability to review and analyze a wide variety of information and multi-task and manage multiple projects concurrently. Discretion and sound, independent judgment; problem-solving skills; logic and reasoning experience to deal with complex, confidential, and sensitive topics.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and an enthusiasm for innovation.
