Get To Know The Opportunity:

Voya is seeking a highly skilled Java focused Application Support Consultant to join our dynamic team. You will be responsible for ensuring proper coordination of software application design, development, testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, and support to ensure smooth, stable and timely implementation of work requests and issue resolution. This Java Application Support Consultant is a hands-on technical position and is accountable for the tactical Application Management and maintenance delivery for the Digital portfolio and will guide Application Systems solutions design through the life cycle of a set of work.

The Contributions You'll Make

  • Hands on design, development/coding, and implementation for a suite of applications
  • Ensures proper coordination of software design, development, testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, and support to ensure smooth, stable and timely implementation of work requests and issue resolution.
  • Provides technical and application portfolio risk management
  • Has accountability for the technical delivery of work for a defined portfolio.
  • Ensures delivery and planning of extensive application maintenance and currency efforts.
  • Coordinates with the App Dev Project team and application maintenance team.
  • Partner with architects and shared services teams to ensure Voya standards, software development practices, and compliant designs are met.
  • Review support documentation for Operational IT governance and ensure it is up to standard.
  • Identify opportunities for new services, continuous improvement, and cost reduction and manage related change requests.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations (e.g. application maintenance, stability, innovation, development, incident, change & problem management)
  • Review performance results and determine when application maintenance support levels need to be changed.

Minimum Knowledge & Experience

  • Hands on extensive experience in a Java development environment. Able to code in Java, Java API, JavaScript, C#, Spring, Angular.
  • Knowledge in SQL, Linux, Windows, Cloud, Sybase, Oracle.
  • Basic knowledge or experience of ‘no code/low code’ platforms is a plus
  • Websphere knowledge and experience is a plus
  • Experience designing and developing high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems and delivering high-availability and performance.
  • Demonstrated skills writing well designed, testable, efficient code
  • Mentor less experience developers
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural review.
  • Experience in Application Management and incident response.
  • Knowledge on production support and production incident trouble shooting skills.
  • AND

    Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or a directly related field, Master’s Degree preferred.

  • Eight + years of software engineering and development or Operations, including five years in technical leadership, preferably within a Digital Application Portfolio.
  • Demonstrated expertise working across multiple platforms/technologies
  • Experience with Dev/ops and CICD pipelines
  • Experience with business analysis within a Digital Portfolio.
  • Technical knowledge in the following areas is critical:
  • Cloud Technologies, App and Web Servers, Web Technologies, Middleware, messaging, RDBMS (Oracle, SQL, DB1), security tools such as Veracode

Compensation Pay Disclosure:

Voya is committed to pay that’s fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.

The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.

Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate’s geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

$97,160 - $143,060
