Summary:

The Application Services - Intern will help to build and support software solutions that touch every part of our business from Compliance, Marketing, Operations, Agency, and more by reviewing, analyzing, and modifying our software.  This includes designing, coding, testing, debugging and documenting programs.  You will utilize various technologies, programming tools, and techniques to solve operational problems, streamline business processes and help boost productivity.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Consults with user community, business analysts, and technical lead to analyze current business practices, requirements and needs.
  • Consults with other internal and external technical experts to identify root causes of problems/system defects, and determines practical solutions to correct technical problems.
  • Gathers and documents information completely and accurately, and objectively before proposing solutions to business need.
  • Creates and adheres to accurate work plans and estimates for project assignments.  Maintains complete documentation of project status including work in progress, work completed, and outstanding tasks.
  • Writes program code or uses technical tools to complete the application and resolve the business need.  Business needs will dictate the development of applications (C#, VB.Net, Python)

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate students completing their sophomore or junior year preferred pursuing Business Administration, Finance or Information Technology Majors.
  • Availability to work full-time hours over the summer.
  • Demonstrated mathematics and algebra skills including the ability to solve complex formulas
  • Experience with C#, VB.Net, or Python, and relational databases in a classroom setting
  • Familiarity with Insurance industry is ideal
  • Ability to clearly articulate complex information to others.
  • Detail oriented with strong focus on quality of deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify and solve problems and issues of all types.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ownership and accountability for deliverables.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships and work effectively with any department.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint)
