P&C IT Services is looking for an Application Engineering Manager to join their team. This individual will work a hybrid schedule out of the Cincinnati office.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Oversees the Application Engineering team operations for Risk Solutions IT, including Offshore teams, identifying opportunity for optimizing workflows and ensuring high productivity.
  • Oversees strategic planning and execution to align application engineering initiatives with organizational goals and objectives as well as our divisional portfolio priorities, ensuring long-term success and innovation.
  • Oversees the architecture, design, implementation, and deployment of software applications and systems supporting various business and insurance processes.
  • Ensures that application and infrastructure performance meet complex and evolving business requirements and user expectations. Conducts regular performance assessments and implements improvements.
  • Leads strategic planning and execution of process improvements to align application engineering initiatives with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Provides expert technical support to end-users and team members, addressing and resolving application-related issues.
  • Cultivates a highly collaborative environment, bridging development, operations, and other key stakeholders to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency, especially with offshore delivery models.
  • Continuously evaluates, adopts, and implements industry-leading best practices to maintain a competitive edge and drive technological advancements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Experience: Generally, a minimum of 10 years of experience in software development and/or application development and familiarity with operational databases. Experience includes minimum of 4 years of leadership experience. Strong communication skills required. Managing offshore teams, a plus. Experience with Agile methodologies, DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines preferred.

  • Proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React or Angular.
  • Strong knowledge of back-end technologies such as Node.js or Java.
  • Experience with databases like MS SQL or Oracle.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, TFS).
  • Experience with JSON, XML, and other data formats.
  • Experience with service-oriented architecture and APIs.

Scope of Job/Qualifications: Typically manages one or more teams and one or more directs. Implements policies, procedures, and strategies. Leads and mentors team members, ensuring they excel in their roles. Responsible for identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance and ensure the efficiency and quality of application services. Exhibits expert proficiency in multiple programming languages, cloud platforms, and modern development frameworks. Offers expert consultancy on the organization's business and technology operations. Responsible for managing staff/team performance and coaching, making decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management. Plans and ensures that the team meets budget and performance targets.
