Meter's mission and long term ambition

The internet runs the world–data centers, offices, manufacturing facilities, schools, etc., spend billions annually on computer networking to stay productive.

However, these networks are messy and brittle. Traditional networking companies only build one piece of the puzzle—either hardware, software, or operations—but never all three, leading to inefficient silos and slow changes. Network engineers—the lifeblood of the industry—are often left scrambling to fix issues, hand editing configs, guess-and-checking solutions, and worrying how the ever-increasing complexity of the system they manage will break.

Meter has spent the last decade vertically integrating the fragmented computer networking industry across hardware (power, routing, switches, security, wireless), firmware, operating systems, and real-world operations. By owning the full stack, we make it exceptionally easy for any business to have great networking, internet, and Wi-Fi. We believe people who build hardware and software should be the ones responsible for it. Our ambition is to evolve internet infrastructure into a utility.

This role is critical to Meter's success

We have ambitious growth goals as we deploy Meter’s infrastructure across thousands of locations and millions of devices. We are searching for an exceptional frontend engineer to own Meter’s overall frontend architecture, codebase quality, web app performance, and general web development infrastructure. You are a strong match if you are fluent with React, great at building CRUD applications, an expert with browser compatibility, highly capable with data visualization and charting, and experienced with complex form validations.

You will have an impact by

  • Owning the overall front-end architecture, componentization, and performance
  • Solving complex frontend problems such as complex flows that scale down to mobile screens and scale up for larger screens, cross-platform browser nuances, etc.
  • Partnering with Design to bring their systems ideas to life across Meter’s platform

What We Do

Meter provides internet infrastructure for businesses. Headquartered in San Francisco, we were founded in 2015 to build enterprise-grade networks that are faster, more accessible, and more secure. Our full-stack approach combines hardware, software, and operations so that any company can seamlessly run on a reliable and modern network. We believe the internet is a fundamental utility that businesses should be able to turn on as easily as water and electricity.

Our team includes people who have helped scale successful companies and recent graduates who are eager to learn and build. We’re looking for people who are excited to work on interesting problems, enjoy learning from and helping each other, and above all, are kind and ambitious. We’re building for the long term, and we’re just getting started.
