Job Title:
Analytical R&D Scientist
Job Description:
The Role: (Job Summary)
This position is for an R&D analytical scientist supporting new IC Slurry product development. We supply these products for the important chemical mechanical planarization step for semiconductor manufacture, and controlling the performance of these advanced products requires advanced quality control. With support of the global R&D structure, this role will be focused on creating new methods to separate and quantify various slurry chemical additives (polymers, surfactants, small molecules in complex matrices) and detect trace metals at PPB level using a variety of analytical techniques including HPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS, ICP-OES/MS and other separation science techniques.
In this role you will:
-
Ideate new methods to detect and quantify ingredients in complex slurry matrices.
-
Develop new methodology (digestion, sample treatment, instrument settings) to increase capability to detect trace metals.
-
Work closely with product development scientists to first fully understand their needs and then analyze their formulations, advise on method limitations, and identify byproducts, impurities and/or decomposition products.
-
Work closely with production quality labs to ensure smooth method transfer: Give expert advice, ensure methods can be run in a production environment, aid in troubleshooting method transfer issues.
-
Collaborate with global R&D analytical labs to share new techniques, ideas and best practices.
-
Analytical interface with customer facing team or the customer when needed.
-
Support analytical investigations.
Traits we believe make a strong candidate:
-
Ph.D. or master’s with 7+ industrial experience
-
Strong collaboration and communication skills

-
Ability to manage multiple tasks/requesters: Prioritize effectively and communicate progress/updated timelines
Your success will be measured by:
-
Your progress in increasing our analytical capability in chemical and trace metal analysis.
-
Examples of strong collaboration throughout organization (product development scientists, global analytical R&D organization, quality scientists/technicians, customer facing team, quality teams, etc…) that leads to impact for their work.
-
Your ability to provide reliable and timely results.
-
The advancement of your skillset, product and industry knowledge
