Job Description

We are seeking a Payouts Onboarding Analyst II to strengthen and refine our Pay to Card and Pay to Bank onboarding processes. Building on a solid foundation in payments, compliance, and risk management, you will own increasingly complex onboarding cases, collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders, and proactively identify opportunities for process innovation. This role demands a higher level of expertise in evaluating unique business models, mitigating risk, and navigating Card Scheme regulations (e.g., Visa Direct, MoneySend). As an Analyst II, you will also mentor junior team members and contribute to shaping our strategic outlook on payouts.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Conduct in-depth assessments of both new and existing merchants with complex or non-standard business models, ensuring alignment with Card Scheme and regulatory requirements.

  • Serve as an escalation point for high-priority or high-risk onboarding cases, recommending solutions and proposing remediation strategies when needed.

  • Stay current on VISA and MasterCard rules, and actively evaluate the impact of any regulatory or scheme changes on existing processes and merchant portfolios.

  • Oversee end-to-end onboarding workflows, supporting junior analysts with challenging scenarios and guiding them through sophisticated risk evaluations.

  • Identify potential operational bottlenecks or compliance blind spots early in the onboarding cycle and propose improvements to address them.

  • Lead follow-up discussions with the Schemes to ensure timely approvals and effective resolutions of queries or disputes.

  • Perform thorough AML/KYC verifications, ensuring advanced risk signals are identified and addressed.

  • Coordinate with Legal and Compliance on complex regulatory requirements, acting as a subject matter expert for Pay to Card and Pay to Bank products.

  • Register and report to the Schemes for elevated compliance matters, ensuring that all mandatory submissions are accurate and complete.

  • Proactively partner with Commercial, Sales, Business Development, and external partners to optimize application processing and reduce compliance or risk-related delays.

  • Share best practices and provide guidance to junior colleagues (e.g., Analyst I, Coordinator), helping them to develop robust onboarding and risk assessment techniques.

  • Work closely with Senior Management on escalations and strategic initiatives, offering informed perspectives for business decisions.

  • Take the lead in reviewing and refining existing policies, processes, and controls, with a focus on enhancing efficiency and scalability.

  • Champion initiatives to automate manual tasks or reduce administrative overhead, leveraging data and reporting to support your recommendations.

  • Collaborate with technology teams to build or refine tools that support more accurate assessments and real-time reporting on onboarding activities.

  • Generate advanced reports on financial KPIs, analyzing trends and highlighting key risk indicators to inform strategic planning.

  • Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders, including forecasts for upcoming onboarding volumes, potential compliance concerns, and recommended actions.

  • Track evolving business models or market developments that may affect our product offerings, compiling findings into actionable insights.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Business, Finance, Law, or a related field. Additional certifications in AML, Compliance, or Risk Management are a plus.

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in payments, compliance, or risk analysis, ideally with a strong familiarity in AML/KYC.

  • Able to handle highly complex business models, anticipate risk factors, and deliver thorough, data-driven recommendations.

  • Deep familiarity with Visa Direct, MoneySend, and other Card Scheme rules, plus a commitment to staying ahead of new developments.

  • A track record of guiding junior team members or coordinating cross-functional teams. Comfortable in a coaching/mentoring capacity.

  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport and negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at various levels of seniority.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities, identify process inefficiencies, and implement change in a dynamic environment.

  • Motivated by delivering measurable improvements, with the focus and determination to push initiatives across the finish line.

  • Competent in using CRM systems, risk assessment tools, and reporting platforms to manage workflows and analytics.
