Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Payouts Onboarding Analyst I to help shape and drive our expanding Pay to Card and Pay to Bank offerings. In this role, you will conduct in-depth reviews of prospective and existing business models, ensuring these align with Card Scheme requirements and broader regulatory obligations. You will develop a thorough understanding of each merchant’s operations, assess their compliance and risk profiles, and present your findings to internal teams and external partners, including VISA and MasterCard. This unique position combines risk management, compliance, commercial collaboration, and strategic insight into how various businesses function.
How you’ll make an impact
-
Conduct comprehensive evaluations of new and existing merchants’ business models, assessing how these models measure up against Card Scheme regulations, internal risk policies, and financial industry standards.
-
Stay current on VISA Direct, Visa Money Send, and MasterCard MoneySend rules, ensuring ongoing adherence to any newly introduced or revised requirements.
-
Own the end-to-end onboarding process for Pay to Card and Pay to Bank applicants, including gathering necessary documentation from partners and commercial teams.
-
Prepare and submit applications to the relevant Card Schemes, ensuring timely and accurate follow-ups until final approval.
-
Keep internal databases, trackers, and systems updated, always reflecting the latest status of each application.
-
Perform checks, AML/KYC validations, and due diligence reviews, highlighting potential red flags and recommending mitigation strategies.
-
Register merchants in line with mandatory scheme requirements, and coordinate ongoing reporting to Card Schemes and other regulatory bodies.
-
Partner with Legal, Compliance, and Underwriting to ensure all merchant requests align with our organizational risk appetite and relevant legal frameworks.
-
Collaborate with Commercial, Sales, Business Development, and external partners to gather documentation, resolve challenges, and proactively identify solutions to expedite approvals.
-
Communicate clearly and effectively across internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that feedback loops are maintained and deadlines are respected.
-
Support merchant change requests (e.g., adjusting merchant profiles, adding new service lines) by reviewing potential compliance and financial implications.
-
Propose continuous improvements to the onboarding workflow, striving for greater efficiency and streamlined processes.
-
Regularly compile and present key performance indicators, including financial metrics and trend analyses, to internal stakeholders for strategic decision-making.
-
Provide insights into emerging industry trends, contributing to our overall risk and compliance strategies.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Business, Finance, Law, or a related field.
-
Solid understanding of payments, financial services, or risk assessment. Prior exposure to AML, KYC, or compliance is strongly preferred.
-
Ability to dissect complex business models, spot potential issues, and propose pragmatic, data-driven solutions.
-
Familiarity with Card Scheme rules (Visa Direct, MoneySend) is an advantage; willingness to learn and remain current on regulatory and scheme updates is essential.
-
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence stakeholders across various teams and external partnerships.
-
Comfortable handling tight deadlines, shifting priorities, and a constant influx of new applications—while maintaining impeccable record-keeping.
-
Readiness to handle dynamic requirements, evolving processes, and varied merchant profiles with a “can-do” attitude.
-
A keen eye for continuous improvement, always seeking simpler, more effective processes and ways of working.
-
Ability to manage documentation and reporting tools, and to track relevant operational and compliance data.
