Job Description

Summary:

Ares Management is seeking a passionate and hard-working Analyst to support Ares’ European ESG team. Based out of our London office, the Analyst will partner with internal stakeholders – including the ESG team, investment teams, and client solutions teams – as well as portfolio companies and investors to add new value by implementing our firmwide ESG strategy. This role will span on-going responsibilities and project-based work across Ares’ Corporate Sustainability (firm-level) and Responsible Investment (portfolio company-facing) initiatives.

Project-based work includes, but is not limited to, maintaining the momentum behind firmwide workstreams focused on sustainability-linked loans, ESG data collection, climate change strategy and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) investment process integration. The role will focus on European Direct Lending, with some responsibilities across other asset classes. Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Lead and support ESG projects, ensuring timely and effective delivery of internal and external deliverables.
  • Data Collection & Analysis: Support ESG data collection and carbon footprinting efforts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Project Management & Monitoring: Track and monitor ESG progress in collaboration with portfolio management and investment teams.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with deal, investor relations, compliance, technology, and other internal teams to manage ESG initiatives.
  • Communication & Reporting: Develop materials for internal strategic initiatives and global communications, including reports for the Global Head of ESG. Assist in the preparation of regulatory and sustainability reports.
  • Investor Support: Address investor queries on ESG matters with ESG, investor relations, and RfP teams.
  • Portfolio Engagement: Partner with ESG Leads and champions to support portfolio engagement and monitoring.
  • Research: Conduct research on ESG industry trends and frameworks, providing actionable insights
  • Capacity Building: Support HR, Corporate Services, IR, compliance, marketing, and investment professionals to enhance their ESG initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s, MBA, or similar further education preferred.
  • Experience: 2-4 years of professional experience, preferably in Financial Services or Consulting.

Preferred Skills & Attributes

  • Passion for ESG, sustainability, and/or impact investing, with an entry level understanding of (or strong appetite to learn about) ESG data, frameworks, reporting, and industry standard processes
  • Strong proficiency in PowerPoint and Word; proficiency in Excel
  • Strong work ethic, flexibility, excellent communication, writing and interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Strong analytical and written / verbal communication skills, including synthesizing research and concepts into actionable insights and investor-facing deliverables in a timely manner
  • Team-oriented and organized, with the shown ability to proactively lead multiple projects with a broad range of stakeholders to deliver results in a dynamic environment
  • Accountable, with a strong sense of ownership and attention to detail
