Americas Business Performance Director

Huntsman is seeking an Americas Business Performance Director supporting the Polyurethanes Division located in The Woodlands, Texas. This position will report to the Vice President, Global Finance.

Job Scope

In your role as Americas Business Performance Director, you will be responsible for supporting the Americas Polyurethanes (PU) Business Team and Vice President of the PU Division by providing accurate and timely financial decisions and information.  You will have eleven professionals reporting into your org, and supported by shared service departments, the Finance Director ensures the Regional forecasts and budgets are prepared; and the actual results are recorded and reported accurately and timely.  You will provide instructions to various parties (including Americas Leadership Team) to ensure financial reporting, SOX controls; audit; insurance; tax and other requirements for the Region are accomplished.  Your role will provide financial and analytical insight to America’s PU team and participate in business team meetings (part of Americas Leadership Team); and is a member / leader of projects as required.

In summary, as the Americas Business Performance Director, you will:  

  •  Participate fully in the alignment of operational and strategic alignment with the Americas H-Force strategy.
  • Constantly question strategic initiatives for value, giving key support to Regional VP.
  • Monthly financial close and forecasting process; including analyzing and reporting variance details; and reviewing / resolving cost issues with manufacturing plants; storage locations; and SGA / Research & Development locations.
  • Coordinate and prepare budget P&L’s including revenue, direct cost, and fixed cost details.
  • Complete Quarter-End and Year-End Analysis and Documentation.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors as needed; and resolve audit findings.  Also, complete and review SOX documentation.
  • Complete supervisor activities for direct reports including required Human Resources forms and performance goal setting and reviews.
  • Provide valuable financial insight to PU Americas Leadership Team (ALT).
  • Perform activities as needed, which includes, but is not limited to:  working with the shared service organizations to ensure transactions are properly recorded; Costa Rica and Geismar accounting processes are functioning properly, cost center and GL account set-ups, proper revenue recognition; customer rebate analysis; assisting / reviewing accounts payable activities (getting invoices paid); Corporate requests such as data gathering for insurance coverage analysis, project analysis (acquisitions and divestitures), etc.

Performance:

  • Drive performance throughout the PU Americas organization working tightly with the Regional VP and the rest of the ALT.
  • Provide high quality analytical and decision-making support to the ALT
  • Constantly question, challenge short and medium term performance

              - Includes Pricing, variable cost, margin opportunities and decisions

              - Fixed cost performance – particularly, working closely with Operations Director

              - Use of CAPEX and Working Capital

  • Set a tone of “No Surprises”
  • Set a tone of Value Creation – Growth combined with Return on Capital
  • Provide high quality advice to Regional VP and Commercial Directors as it relates to Customer Contracts
  • Lead the tracking, forecasting and budgeting process within the region

Key Interfaces

  • Member of the Americas Leadership Team and therefore key interfaces with Regional VP, Commercial, Supply Chain, Operations and NBD Directors
  • Performance Directors in other regions
  • All Finance personnel within the Americas (both PU and Shared Services) – specific key interface with Geismar finance team and Rubicon Controller.
  • Finance personnel within the Global Reporting arena – particularly, the Global Reporting Manager
  • Corporate Finance, Tax and Investor Relations (Global Oversight)
  • Shared services within the Americas outside of Finance – particularly, Corporate Purchasing, Customer Focus Center, Legal (including external counsel) and IT.
  • Peers at PU Business Leadership level from around the world.
  • Associates at all sites within the Americas region
  • VP Finance

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
 
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with 10+ years related experience.
  • Strong leadership experience in leading teams before
  • Strong influencing skills
  • CPA is a plus.

Specific Skills and Knowledge:

  • Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs.
  • Good excel skills; presentation skills; and experience with TM1 database software very helpful.
  • Proficiency in SAP; understanding of internal controls; good communication skills.
