Job Description:
The A&H Compliance Underwriting Manager will be part of the NA/International based in either of the two major offices. The role sits within the A&H team International and provides first line compliance support. This role requires a strong level of knowledge in Compliance matters and local Regulation, and would suit a dynamic, adaptable, and well-organized individual who can demonstrate the ability to engage with all aspects of Compliance and the business that impact the various geographies we operate in.
Key Role and Responsibilities
- Keeping up to date and assessing the impact of new regulatory and legal developments, informing senior management of any issues that may affect the company and providing recommendations for actions. Must inform, keep track, and update action plans related to such new regulations or law projects and its implementation quarterly to senior management in A&H and Compliance.
- Assist underwriters to develop policy documentation suite in line with prevailing regulatory requirements
- Develop suite of Conduct related MI for reporting to Management and relevant legal entity committees
- Ensure that all processes and new systems in A&H are documented end-to-end and ensure that they meet regulatory requirements eg sanctions, banking/payments, claims handling,
- Contributing to compliance of the companies with applicable regulatory reporting deadlines.
- Testing compliance of the Line of Business with applicable laws, regulations and internal policies and procedures through the completion of assurance monitoring reviews and other oversight processes, in line with the annual Board approved Compliance plan.
- Ensuring appropriate and adequate Compliance mandatory trainings are in place for LOB employees, considering vendors
- Ensuring that guidance from DPO is implemented appropriately and ensuring the DPO team are adequately involved in any new products, systems or processes
- Ensuring that the due diligence checks on new clients/brokers/Vendors for A&H are completed satisfactorily, and any continuous due diligence processes are duly performed.
- Assessment and review of Company’s service level agreements with outsourced companies and regularly review compliance of outsourced arrangements with these agreements.
- Promoting a strong compliance culture within the A&H division. Ensuring the compliance of the organization with the Companies Code of Conduct and implementing the relevant trainings on this matter to all employees, directors, and vendors when applicable.
- Keep track of people with access to privileged information and carry out the associated procedures and controls.
Qualifications
- Law, or accountancy Degree.
- 7+ years of experience in a Compliance position, ideally within Insurance or Banking industries.
- High level of proficiency in English – both written and spoken. (Must)
- Knowledge on the relevant geographical rules and regulations on AML, Sanctions, FATCA, KYC, Ethics, and other regulatory and compliance topics.
Knowledge and Skills
- Previous experience dealing with regulators is desirable.
- High sense of urgency, strong work ethic and drive for results.
- A confident approach and an ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders including regulators, directors, legal advisors, outsourced partners, and senior management within the business.
- Exceptional oral and written communication with the ability to concisely provide executive summaries to senior Management and any regional Board of Directors.
