Southern California News Group (SCNG) is seeking an Agency Account Manager responsible for maintaining and growing existing relationships with a portfolio of assigned Agency Desk customers as well as cultivating new relationships with inbound Agency leads. The Agency Desk can encompass agency accounts, accounts facilitated through a buying service or a 3rd party buyer, and any other assigned house accounts. You will liaise between customers and cross-functional internal teams to ensure the timely and successful delivery of SCNG advertising solutions according to customers' needs. This position will also be responsible for negotiating contract terms, maintaining rate integrity, and ensuring that all SCNG policies and procedures are met including the timely completion of billing and payment activity. This position is responsible for managing over $4 million in advertising revenue. The ideal candidate will be required to obtain a thorough understanding of all media vehicles/solutions offered by SCNG advertising to ensure successful delivery of solutions according to customers' needs and budgets.
What you will do:

  • Operate as the lead point of contact for any and all matters specific to your portfolio of Agency Desk clients
  • Act as liaison between SCNG and assigned clients on all contract negotiations, full knowledge of contract terms, and ability to address stress points as well as upsell opportunities
  • Identify growth opportunities for each Agency client by product, geography, frequency or niche marketing opportunities and collaborate with internal stakeholders to facilitate
  • Prepare and develop your own sales collateral/presentations utilizing company resources and collaborating with internal stakeholders to gather appropriate statistics concerning market, share, demographics, and advertising solutions
  • Meet deadlines, complete accurate advertising orders, submit client contracts and complete sales reporting in a timely manner
  • Communicate clearly the weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual progress of assigned accounts against their budget and against Conquest goals to Director
  • Manage a sales pipeline through Luna and/or communicate weekly flash
  • Possess a complete understanding of product features and benefits, rates, and packages and match recommendations to customers' needs
  • Utilize training resources to become proficient in all advertising solutions and processes
  • Attend all applicable training as assigned for advertising sales, products, software, etc.


What you will bring:

  • BS or BA with applicable advertising experience or minimum of 3+ years of relevant advertising experience
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline oriented environment with constantly shifting priorities
  • Time management, prioritization, resourcefulness and problem solving
  • Proactive communicator both externally and internally
  • You keep organized, current, and accurate files
  • Proficient in Salesforce/Luna, digital ordering processes and procedures, and applicable SCNG advertising systems (Mactive/Adbase, Cognos/CDW, Affinity, etc.)
  • Professional, outgoing and friendly with the ability to adapt to fit ever-changing needs
  • You are a team player and contribute to a positive, constructive, and can-do atmosphere to make the department and company more effective
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation required


This is a hybrid role with monthly office expectations in Los Angeles.
The annual salary range is $65,000 - $75,000 + incentive compensation (commission), and cell phone reimbursement. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. This role is eligible for a bonus based on performance. In addition to your salary, MediaNews Group offers a comprehensive benefits package, and a 401K plan (all benefits are based on eligibility).
