Aerosol Transport Engineer

Thanks for your interest in Oklo!  We are searching for an aerosol transport engineer to join our team.

Position Description

The engineer in this position will be responsible for modeling the migration of radionuclides from nuclear fuel to the external environment with an emphasis on room-to-room migration and atmospheric dispersion effects on source term.

Specific responsibilities may include:

• Modeling aerosol movement via building leakage pathways and HVAC systems with tools such as CONTAM and RADTRAD
• Modeling ex-building atmospheric dispersion with tools such as ARCON96, PAVAN, and SIERRA ATD
• Collaborating cross-functionally to define design requirements, and providing technical feedback to quick-iterating design teams
• Methods development, code qualification, and verification/validation processes in support of analyses
• Document work using modern tools and techniques and write well-written, thoughtful technical reports

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors in a technical field, such as nuclear, mechanical, or civil engineering
• Experience with aerosol, pollutant, and/or radionuclide transport analysis codes such as ARCON96, PAVAN, SIERRA ATD, RADTRAD, CONTAM, SCIPUFF, or equivalent is highly recommended
• Experience with data processing (e.g., pre-processing, post-processing, scripting)

Bonus Qualifications:

• Experience with nuclear engineering principles and multi-physics analysis methods for engineering applications, particularly as they relate to advanced reactors
• Experience with HVAC, filtration systems, and air quality analysis
• Experience with Python, CI/CD computing environments, and modern software engineering best practices
• Core competencies in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics first principles
• Masters or PhD in a relevant field
• 5-10 years relevant work experience

About Oklo compensation: $80,000-185,000

Salary may fall outside of the range provided and will be dependent on applicant experience.
