Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to General Motors Milford Proving Ground, Milford, Michigan on a full-time basis.
The Role :
The Advanced Control and Emission Systems (ACES) team at General Motors is looking for a skilled Advanced Electronics and Start Cart Laboratory Technician supporting Advanced Technical Work (ATW) projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for innovation, demonstrating a proactive approach to identifying and implementing creative solutions that drive progress and enhance operational efficiency. This enthusiasm for exploring new ideas and technologies will be essential in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and inspiring collaboration within the team.
What You'll Do
- Support execution of ATW projects.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to define and execute project requirements and deliverables.
- Perform start cart calibration changes, testing, and data analysis.
- Diagnose start cart/vehicle wiring or performance issues.
- Build wiring harnesses and test components for Vehicle/Hardware in the Loop benches.
- General mechanic work, vehicle safety inspection and vehicle retrofits.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- 2+ years experience with internal combustion engines or electrified propulsion systems
- Ability to use hand and power tools and maintain all workplace standards.
- Experience with automotive build/repair procedures/wiring schematics.
- Basic understanding of vehicle interface tools like Vehicle Spy and INCA.
- Effective communication with leadership and decision-makers.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Associate or bachelor's degree in an automotive-related field.
- Understanding of Energy and Emission Laboratory test processes.
- Vehicle Lifts-Hoists training (MPG Safety Training 20720).
- Understanding of printed circuit board repair or assembly.
- Ability to create one-off vehicle or bench hardware components.
- Welding capability.
